"Captain Benson?" The familiar voice says from the doorway to her office, and she looks up, smiling when she sees Elliot."What can I do for you?" She asks, sliding her glasses off the bridge of her nose.
"I think it's what I can do for you," he smirks, walking closer to her. "It's a Friday night. Are you working tomorrow?"
She shakes her head, looking at her phone. Weekends have always been for her and Ivy.
"Let me take you to dinner, both of you," he smiles sweetly, and she can't deny him. The way he smiles at her has always made her weak at the knees.
"When?" She asks, looking at her phone again.
"As soon as you're done here," he smiles. "I can go and pick Ivy up and come back for you?" He suggests, and she smiles, nodding.
"Let me call her to pre warn her, I'll see you in a little while," she says, watching Elliot walk away as she dials her daughters number.
"Hi, my angel-- Your father is coming to pick you up to take us out for dinner. He's on his way, okay? I love you."
She hangs up the phone and looks at the baby picture of Ivy on her desk. How on earth did she grow up so quickly? She was practically an adult already. She finishes writing up a report that needs submitted and she grabs her coat, turning off the lights in her office and heading out for the night. She heads to the bathroom and uses her hands to fluff out her hair. She unbuttons her blouse a bit more to show a bit of cleavage, and Amanda walks in as she applies lipstick.
"Ooh, hot date?" She teases, and Liv smiles.
"Something like that," she agrees.
"For real?" Amanda grins. "I was just teasing you. That man?? Is he your hot date?" She asks. Amanda came after Elliot. She has heard stories, but she's never met the guy.
"That was Elliot," Liv says, turning to face her friend with a smile dancing on her lips. "He came back."
"Has Ivy met him?" Amanda asks. She and Liv are close, especially as they were both single mothers at one point. Liv nods, and Amanda claps excitedly.
"He spent the night," Liv blushes. She is about to go into more detail when a uni walks in. Amanda rubs Liv's shoulder and grins.
"Well, alright, good for you," she says as they leave the bathroom together. "Have a good weekend, boss," she smiles as Liv slings her handbag over her shoulder and wanders downstairs.
She doesn't have to stand in the cold for long before Elliot pulls up alongside her, Ivy beside him. "Oh, I see," Liv says as she opens the rear passenger door. "I have to sit in the back, do I?"
Ivy giggles, her head craned to look at her mom. "I called shotgun," she says seriously as they pull away. "Dad said he's taking us for fancy Italian," Ivy smirks, looking at her mother.
She's had the whole day to think, and her mom seems genuinely happier with Elliot here. If he is serious about staying, Ivy thinks it will be good for everyone. "Are you wearing lipstick?" Ivy whispers.
"Sit in your seat properly," Liv tells her, avoiding the question. She can feel Elliot's eyes on her in the mirror, and she smiles, silently staring at him as they make their way to the restaurant.
"Right this way, Sir," a waiter says, his arm extended as he motions for Elliot to follow him. Ivy links her arm with her mother, and they follow too. "Menus," the waiter says as the three sit down in a booth.
"Thank you," Elliot says. "Can we start with a bottle of Chianti and--" he looks at his daughter.
"A coke, please," she smiles sweetly.
"And a coke, thank you," Elliot says as the waiter disappears. "This wine is good paired with Italian food," He tells Liv, who is smiling at him.
"So, how was school?" He asks Ivy as she reads the menu.
"It was good, I got full marks on my Literature pop-quiz," she tells them nonchalantly.
"Full marks?" Elliot asks proudly. "Way to go, kiddo." Liv smiles. She is used to her daughter excelling in school, but to Elliot, this is all new.
She reaches across to Ivy and twirls a strand of her blonde hair. "She's always been a clever girl," She tells Elliot proudly.
"Yeah, I'm figuring that out," he says, nodding to the waiter as he brings them two wine glasses and pours their drinks. He slides it onto a bucket of ice and leaves it on a small table next to them before disappearing and returning with a bottle of coke and a glass of ice.
"Thank you," Ivy smiles, still studying the menu. "I want to try something I've never tried before," she tells her parents.
"I recommend the Cavatelli Alla Crema," Elliot says, pointing to it on the menu. Egg noodles stuffed with ricotta cheese, baked in tomato sauce and parmigiana.
"That's a lot of cheese," Liv smiles at her daughter as she studies the menu.
"Okay, I'll have that please," she tells her father, closing the menu.
"Would you like some Calamari to share?" He asks the ladies, and Liv nods.
"Yes, please," she smiles. "I might get the Siciliana Tagliatelle," she tells Elliot, sipping her wine. He does the ordering, and they wait in blissful silence for a moment before Ivy breaks it.
"This place is nice," she says, "we've never been here before."
"We have not," Liv agrees.
"We've been here once," Elliot reminds Liv. "UC op."
"You'll have to refresh my memory," Liv says, sipping her wine. "It has been a long time."
"You were my wife," he smiles, pressing his foot against her leg. They are sat opposite one another, Ivy beside her mother.
"Hmm, I have been your wife many times," she reminds him.
"They made you go undercover as husband and wife?" Ivy asks, looking at them both. "Did you enjoy it?"
Liv blushes. "I always enjoyed working with your father," she tells Ivy, who is texting under the table. "Phone away, whoever that is can not be that important."
Frustration is written across the young blonde's face as she slides her phone into her pocket. "A boy?" Elliot asks, and Liv's eyes widen. Her baby girl is way too young for boys.
"Just a friend," Ivy says, sipping her coke.
The food arrives, and it doesn't take the trio long to clear the table. Liv sits back, her hands on her stomach. "I need bigger pants after that," she says, rubbing her belly to emphasise the 'food baby.'
"Me too," Ivy giggles. "That was delicious, thanks, dad!"
"Anything for my girls," Elliot smiles.
