"I'm here," Elliot assures Olivia as she cries out in pain. The drive to the hospital had been torture for him, hearing her cry like that. He was scared, and he knew she was too. Especially since she started to bleed, as well as the constant stomach pains.
"You're going to be okay, mom," Lizzie says, having accompanied them to the hospital. She holds Olivia's hand while a nurse checks her belly, making Liv wince with each touch.
"Mrs Stabler," a doctor says, walking in the room. "I'm afraid we are going to have to take you to surgery. The fall has caused what we call a placental abruption," he explains.
"What?" Elliot asks.
"I'm sorry, sir, I don't have time to explain. We need to get your wife to surgery now, before it is too late," he says, walking out of the room as nurses come in to get Olivia.
"You're going to be okay," Lizzie says, ever the voice of reason. "We love you. We will be waiting for you."
"I love you, Liv," Elliot says, kissing her forehead. The nurses rush Liv off, and the doctor comes back.
"Mr. stabler, I'm sorry to ask, but sometimes these things don't go the way we plan. If it comes down to it, which one would you rather I save?"
"How am I supposed to answer that?" Elliot asks, his head in his hands. "Wait, you save her. If it comes down to it and you have no other choice, you save my wife," he says, realising just how dire the situation was.
"She slipped," He says, trying not to cry as the doctor walks away. "She just slipped." Elizabeth Stabler wraps her arms around her father and squeezes him tight.
"She's going to be okay, Daddy," she says, holding him. "She's Olivia freakin Benson. She'll be okay."
It feels like hours have passed before anyone comes to find them, Lizzie has been updating her family via text while her Dad paces the floor.
"Dad," Lizzie says when she spots a doctor.
"Mr Stabler," the older man smiles. "You have a son. He's very healthy. He has been taken to the neonatal unit for basic specialist care, but he's otherwise in great condition."
"And my wife?" Elliot asks, tears pricking his eyes.
"She lost a lot of blood, and she needed three blood transfusions. I'm afraid we had to do a total hysterectomy in order to stop the bleeding."
"Oh," Elliot says, sinking into his chair. "Is she okay, though?"
"Very tired and very weak," he says. "She's a very lucky woman, I hear this happened because she slipped by the pool?" Elliot nods. "Very lucky woman," the doctor repeats. "Would you like to see her?"
"Yes," Elliot says, standing and reaching for Lizzie's hand. They follow the doctor to Liv's room, and Elliot breaks down as soon as he sees her. She looks so small, so frail in her bed. She is pale, and when she smiles at him, it is the weakest smile he's ever seen from her.
"El," she says, her voice croaky. "The baby?"
"We have a boy," Elliot grins, taking her hand and kissing it. "He's okay. The nurses are looking after him."
"Babies born at thirty-five weeks have a much higher chance of everything being fine," Lizzie says from the doorway. "Are you okay, Mom?"
"I feel like I've been hit by a bus," Liv mumbles, licking her dry lips. "My head hurts."
"We were so scared," Lizzie tells her, taking her other hand and squeezing it gently. "We thought we were going to lose you."
"Never," Liv says, wincing as she tries to move. "You can't get rid of me that easily."

It is a well-known fact that Olivia makes healthy babies, which is why the baby is discharged from the hospital before Liv. They spend three days together getting to know one another in the hospital bed, he is so handsome. This baby looks exactly like his mother, with her dark hair and dark eyes. He is the most gorgeous boy she has ever laid eyes on.
Olivia is staring at him in his carseat when they arrive home. She starts unbuckling his seat, cooing to him. "Leave it," Elliot says, in a deep, serious voice. "No lifting anything for six weeks, remember?"
"It was only the seatbelt," Liv says, unbuckling herself as Elliot gets the baby out. She exits the car with a wince, slowly walking towards the house. Elliot follows with Noah in his car seat and a bag over his shoulder.
"I've got the door," He says, racing ahead of Liv before she tries to open the door too.
"El," she sighs, "I can open the door."
"No," he says, placing a kiss on her forehead. "You aren't to lift a finger, got it?"
"Got it," Liv sighs, wincing at the pain. Any movement seems to tug at her stitches, and it is the most uncomfortable thing she's ever felt.
"Mommy!" Isabella squeals excitedly as they walk through the front door. She slams into her mother, and Liv groans, holding onto Elliot to steady herself.
"Sorry," Kathleen says, grabbing Isabella and lifting her up. "Are you alright?"
"I'm alright," Liv smiles weakly, slowly walking to the couch.
"Nice and slow dear," Bernie says, helping Liv put her legs up. "I was so worried about you," she tells the younger woman, kissing her cheek.
"I'm okay, mom," Liv smiles at Bernie. "Got over it pretty much as soon as I met this gorgeous boy," she says, motioning to the tiny baby that Elliot is removing from his car seat. His tiny body scrunches as Elliot places him on Liv's chest, smiling proudly.
"Oh, he's so small," Maureen gasps, getting hormonal.
"He's perfect," Bernie says, stroking his soft cheek. "Your family is complete."
Liv smiles as all of the kids gather round, staring at their new brother. "Everyone, this is Noah," she tells them, kissing his cheek. "Enjoy him because he is the last of the Stabler kids," she says, wincing as her stomach twinges when she tries to laugh.
"He's perfect," Ivy says, staring at her little brother. "Good job, mom," she says, kissing her cheek. "I thought you were going to die," she whispers sadly. Liv wants to pull them all into her arms and cuddle them, kiss them, tell them she is fine. But she can't, because in reality she is not fine. She nearly died. She lost so much blood that she actually did die for a few minutes, but she wasn't going to scare them any more than they already were.
"Love you," Liv whispers to Ivy, stroking her face.
"Do you want anything?" Bernie asks.
"Some water please," she says. "Elliot can get it. You need to hold your grandson," she smiles at Bernie, motioning for her to come closer. She lifts her arms as much as she can, and Bernie takes the tiny boy into her own arms, taking him to her armchair and sitting down.
"Oh, what a sweet boy," she says, feeling emotional. "You are very loved, little Noah Stabler. Look at how many brothers and sisters you have. You are the luckiest boy in the world."
Liv smiles, looking around. She, too, was lucky, lucky enough to have the perfect family, a huge family that she never thought she would have. All thanks to that one night stand nearly seventeen years ago after a hard day at work.
