– Four years later –

"Hey kiddo," Olivia smiles as Ivy walks into her office after school, dumping her rucksack on the floor and slumping in a chair. "Tough day?" she asks. Ivy is thirteen now, she is entering moody teenager territory and Liv knows it.

Ivy shrugs, staring at her phone. "Okay, I get it." Olivia sighs, getting up, "You don't want to talk to me."

"I met my dad today," Ivy says, looking up at her mom. "Elliot Stabler."

Liv's heart skips a beat as she looks at her distraught daughter. "How do you know–" she says and Ivy stands up.

"I found pictures of him in your room when I was little, I have had a picture of him under my bed for years. I recognised him straight away when I saw him on my way to school today."

Ivy's tone is angry and Liv can understand why, Elliot didn't even know about Ivy. "He said he didn't know what I was talking about, until I mentioned your name. Why did you keep me a secret mom?" she asks, on the verge of tears.

Olivia moves closer to her, her arm out to comfort her child and she pulls away. "Don't touch me," Ivy snaps.

"Ivy I didn't have a choice," Liv tries to explain to her angry teenage daughter. "He left before I knew I was pregnant and by the time I found out, he was long gone."

"Why didn't you try to call him!?" she snaps.

"I changed my number," a familiar voice says from the doorway and both of the Benson girls turn to face him, Elliot.

"El," Liv sighs, her face softening as she looks at the man she has loved for decades.

"I'm sorry," Elliot says, stepping in and closing the office door behind him. "I'm sorry I left you with a child to raise, I'm sorry I disappeared." he turns to Ivy. "She didn't do anything wrong, don't be mad at her."

Ivy sits back down and folds her arms, pouting. She has dreamt of meeting her dad for as long as she could remember and it didn't go like this.

"Maybe we should talk?" he suggests, looking at Liv. She hasn't aged a day in the fourteen years since he last saw her. She looks beautiful, being in charge suits her.

Liv nods, looking at Ivy before leading Elliot into the interrogation room that is joined to her office.

"Where have you been?" she asks him, a tone of sadness in her voice.

"You know, here and there," he says, "I'm sorry Liv." He reaches up and cups her face, wiping away the stray tear that falls down her cheek. "You did a great job, she's a feisty little one. Like you," he smirks and Liv chuckles.

"Yeah, she's my mini-me. But she's a lot like you too," She says, staring at her lover. "I've missed you," she sighs.

Elliot pulls Liv closer, their heads touching and their lips barely inches apart. "I've missed you too. I'm here now." He tells her and her breath tightens as he presses his lips gently against hers.

"You know I can see you, right?" Ivy says over the interrogation intercom and the couple pull apart, smiling to themselves as Ivy opens the door.

"Mom, can Dad come over for dinner?" The small blonde asks from the doorway and Olivia whips her head round to face her daughter.

"Uhm," she says, looking at Elliot.

"I'd love that," he says, squeezing Liv's thigh.

-----

"So what's your favourite subject in school?" Elliot asks Ivy as they eat spaghetti and meatballs, Ivy's favourite meal.

"I love art," Ivy says. "It's my favourite big time."

"She's not like us," Liv smiles proudly, "She's creative. She's going to be an artist one day."

"Is that so?" Elliot asks. "You know your sister, Maureen, she's arty so I guess it must have come from my side," he smirks.

"I have a sister?" Ivy asks, her eyes lighting up.

"You have three sisters, two brothers," Liv says, sipping on her glass of wine and looking at Elliot. "He has a whole family, that's why he left."

"Liv," he sighs, knowing he can never change the past. "I'm divorced now, I'm here." She nods, taking a drink again.

"I'd like to meet them one day," Ivy smiles as Liv gets up and takes her plate to the sink, finishing her wine. She didn't know how this situation would turn out, if she ever managed to find Elliot, but it wasn't like this. She feels overwhelmed and her head hurts. What she would've liked to do after a long day of work was to come home, eat dinner with her daughter, maybe have a glass of wine and watch a movie.

"Ivy, why don't you go have a bath," Liv smiles warmly, taking the empty plate off her daughter and heading back to the sink.

"But mom," she protests and Liv shoots her a look.

"El can put you to bed afterwards if you want," she suggests as Ivy walks away.

"Liv," Elliot says, getting up. "I know this must be hard."

"No," Liv snaps. "You don't get to disappear for fourteen years and then come back like nothing happened. I had to do this, all by myself. I had to be both mom and dad to our daughter." She looks at Elliot. "You don't get to be the good cop in this situation, you don't get to take her away from me."

Olivia hadn't realised that she was crying until Elliot was wiping her face for the second time that day. "It's okay," he says, pulling her into a hug. "I'm not planning on taking her away from you, I'm not planning on doing anything unless you give me the green light." He kisses her forehead and she melts.

"I tried to forget about you," she says against his chest. "Why did you come back, you'll just leave me again."

"I'm not going anywhere," he assures her, holding her close.

Once Ivy is cleaned up and in bed, Elliot tucks her in. She knows she is too big to be tucked into bed, but she's never been tucked in by her dad before. He stays until she is asleep, snoring peacefully and he wanders out of her room to find Olivia on the couch, channel hopping.

"She's so beautiful, Liv," He tells her as he wanders over to her. "I can't believe I missed her whole childhood."

"Yeah well, I tried to find you," Liv shrugs.

"Are you ever going to forgive me?" he asks quietly, climbing on top of her, kissing her neck.

"You can't sweet talk me with sex," Liv warns him, his hand moving down her body. "Elliot not here, what if Ivy comes out of her room?"

"You're right," he smiles, getting up and picking Liv up. "Bedroom it is," he says as he carries her bridal style into her room. He lays her down gently on her bed and removes his shirt, watching her watch him. He knows he is her weakness, he knows she cannot resist him. This is the only way he knows how to apologise and be heard. He makes quick work of unbuttoning her blouse and pulling down her jeans. Her body has changed since they last made love. Her breasts are fuller, her stomach is softer, she has red flecks across her stomach from where she carried their daughter.

"You're so beautiful," He tells her as he takes in every inch of her body, making her blush. "I never stopped loving you, Liv."

His words make her hot and needy, she would do anything for Elliot and he knew it. "Take me," she begs as he removes his pants and climbs on top of her. She gasps as he enters her slowly, making sweet love to her until neither can take any more.
