       Today is Christmas Eve and mama Miranda had us up EARLY! She woke us up at seven on the dot and made us go get all the last minute stuff she needed for Christmas dinner. We were currently in the kitchen cooking and preparing the stuff we were gonna make tomorrow. "Ouu wee these turkeys gone be so good." Papa Jerome said as he seasoned the meat he's cooking in the morning.

       "Pops I'm so excited for yo ribs! I can taste them motha- I mean things right now." Jade said. "ALRIGHT NOW JAYDAN!" Mama Miranda yelled from the living room. "SORRY MOMMA!" Jade yelled back. "You know y'all momma don't play." Papa Jerome shook his head and laughed. "I sholl don't! I don't know why cause they think they a lil grown now they can play with me." Mama Miranda came in the kitchen and popped Jade and said.

       "Ma the words just be slipping out I swear, it don't be on purpose." Jade said. "Mhm hm. Look like we done made everything we gone make today. Let's finish decorating." Mama Miranda said. "What's all on the menu mommy?" Mimi asked as she washed her hands. "White rice, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, deviled eggs, ham, TWO turkeys, ribs, fried chicken, collard greens, deviled eggs, cornbread, yams, hm yellow rice, cabbage and I think that's it. Nothing much."

       "Don't leave out dessert." Papa Jerome said. "Oh yes, sweet potato pie, lemon pound cake, red velvet cake and chocolate cake." "Mama that's a lot!" Jade said. "We ain't make half the food on that list!" I added. "Mommy all we made today was the greens, potato salad, deviled eggs, cabbage  and that's it!" Mimi huffed. "One of the turkeys is going in the oven and y'all daddy is gone deep fry the other one, so the turkey and ham is going in the oven tonight and it's gone cook until we wake up."

       "Everything else is getting made in the morning. That stuff is gone be fast and easy to make." She fanned her hand at us. "Now come in this living room and help me." We all slowly made our way to the living room, definitely dragging our feet. "Ma I didn't wrap my gifts yet, can I go do that?" I asked trying to get outta helping.

       "Why you ain't do it last night?" Jade asked knowing what I was doing. "Because mommy told us to go to sleep early and I did." "Go head." "Okay!" I quickly jumped up and started speed walking down the hallway towards Mimi room. When I got far enough I stuck my tongue at them. "Oouu ma she stuck her tongue at us!" Mimi said. "No I didn't!" "Yes huhhh." Jade added. "Makyah you better take yo little ass in that room and wrap them gifts before I change my mind." "Yes ma'am." I quickly walked in the room and closed the door.

I grabbed the gifts from the hiding spots I put them in then grabbed the Walmart bag with the paper and stuff in it. The first gifts I wrapped were Mimi and Jades. After I wrapped them I put a bow and a to & from sticker writing their names and mine on them. As I was wrapping the last gift my phone started ringing.

I picked it up and seen Tig's name. I slid my finger across the screen and answered it. "Hi my love." I smiled. "Wassup baby, where you at?" "I'm at Mimi house why?" "Ight I'm bout to come get you. My grandma doing something at her house." "Okay." "So start getting ready nie." "I am." I rolled my eyes. "Ight love you, imma be there shortly." "I love you too." I hung up and sat my phone down.

I finished wrapping the gift and put the bow and sticker on then wrote the names. I stood up and picked all the gifts up one by one and put them on the bed. I put all the gifts in their bags and walked out to the living room. "I'm doneee." I walked over to the tree and put the gifts underneath. "Ohhh you got some nice things I see." Mama Miranda said looking at the bags.

"Yes ma'am I definitely triedddd. But Ti- Trayvon is coming to get me, his family is having a get together and he want me there." I said. Mimi and Jade looked at each other and rolled their eyes. "I'm just gonna keep my thoughts to myself." Mama Miranda shook her head. "But I will say this please be safe and if ANYTHING happens please call me, your sisters or daddy and we will be there in a heartbeat! Tennis shoes and Vaseline."
