The last few weeks with Ran had been incredible. Finally taking our relationship to the next level had brought us even closer, deepening our connection in ways I hadn't anticipated, and spending more time together only affirmed how amazing he was and how compatible we truly were. From romantic dinners at luxurious cafes to cozy evenings cooking together, and attending art exhibitions, every moment felt like a dream. We were starting to feel like a real couple.
Rindou hadn't been a problem lately. Thankfully, our paths hadn't crossed since our last incident in Ran's kitchen. However, Ran had invited me to a celebration this evening, marking Bonten's latest successful acquisition, and his presence was inevitable. I knew I had to keep my guard up.
Despite my nerves, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation. This was a big event, and I wanted to be there for Ran.
Arriving at the luxury hotel, I felt a mix of excitement and nerves. As I stepped through the grand entrance with Ran, I was immediately struck by the opulence of the lobby. The marble floors gleamed under the soft lighting, and the air was filled with a faint, pleasant scent. Elegant people, dressed to perfection, moved gracefully around me, chatting and laughing as if they did this sort of thing every day. I felt a bit intimidated-it was my first time entering Ran's world, and I couldn't ignore the irony of it all. I had been so against this lifestyle, so critical, and now here I was, diving headfirst into it. Ran was excited for me to meet his people, and I could see how much it meant to him, which only intensified my nerves.
We followed the flow of guests down a long, lavishly decorated hallway. The walls were lined with intricate gold trim, and expensive-looking artwork hung at regular intervals. We finally reached the ballroom's double doors, which were propped open, inviting us in.
Stepping into the hotel's ballroom felt like entering a scene from a movie. The chandeliers twinkled above, casting a warm glow over the room. The place was dripping with elegance-gilded columns, plush curtains... Tables decked out in fancy linens lined the edges, all lit up with flickering candles and pretty flowers.
The room was filled with elegantly dressed people, all looking like they belonged on the cover of some high-end fashion magazine. The men were in sharp suits, and the women wore stunning dresses that flowed and sparkled as they moved. As I wandered through the crowd, I couldn't help but feel a little awestruck. It was all so fancy, like something out of a dream. And here I was, right in the middle of it.
Ran squeezed my hand, snapping me back to reality with a warm smile spreading across his face. "You seem overwhelmed," he observed.
"Well, I am. I mean, I didn't expect this many people. Do I even fit in? I feel like my hair could be styled b-"
"Y/N, you look perfect. You're the standard," he interrupted, placing his hands on my shoulders. Before I could blush, he cupped my cheek and softly kissed me. "Ready?" I nodded, and he offered his arm for me to link mine.
We made our way to two men engrossed in conversation. One had long white hair with one side shaved, showcasing his Bonten tattoo, and wore red eyeliner.
The other had black hair and a prominent scar that covered much of his face, but what stood out most were his eyes: one red, one white. If he had a tattoo, it wasn't visible.
I realized Bonten was filled with the most peculiar-looking people.
"Gents," Ran greeted them, catching their attention. Their gazes quickly shifted to me, scanning me from head to toe. I wondered what seemed so interesting about me, given the way they all looked.
"Hey, man," the black haired one returned the greeting before turning to me. "And who do we have here?"
"Y/N," I introduced myself shyly, feeling intimidated by these men observing me as if I were a frog about to be dissected in a biology class.
