Chapter 6 - Fractured Affections

Chaeyoung opened the door to find Dahyun waiting for her.

"You're back"

"Yeah..."

Dahyun noticed Chaeyoung's expression and immediately knew that she didn't find Mii.

Chaeyoung walked past her and into the living room where she sat down at the table.

Dahyun felt that something other than Mii was bothering her.

"So, the professor and Mii weren't there, right?"

"His assistance was there, but..."

Chaeyoung spoke without making eye contact with Dahyun. In fact, her whole body was turned away from her.

"It's okay, Chae. Let's ask Professor Bang tomorrow at school"

"We can't...", she mumbled.

"Why?"

"Because, Professor Bang is-"

The sight of the professor's severed head and the vision of the pair of red and white shoes standing in a pool of blood popped up in her head again. 

She gripped onto her head as anxiety struck her. 

"Professor Bang is...", she panted as she tried to get the words out.

Dahyun looked at her in worry as she noticed Chaeyoung's hands trembling and sweat dripping down her face.

"What happened, Chae?"

Chaeyoung suddenly stopped and relaxed.

She slowly looked up at Dahyun calmly and asked her.

"What was I saying again?"

"Hm? How am I suppose to know??"

Chaeyoung stood up and turned around.

"Sorry. I'm going to bed now... I don't feel so well..."

Dahyun watched as she walked out of the room slouched over with her head down.

She felt worried and confused about her.

Nayeon sighed as she calmed herself down.

"I'm finally back on my feet. Now, what should I do with this? There's no point in calling the ambulance", she said to herself as she looked at the headless body.

She walked over to the professor's head and crouched down beside it.

"These horns... That idiot! He sent so many patients inflicted with the virus to institutions while he was a Carrier himself! Why would he do that? You can't just grow horns just from being exposed to the virus. It only affects the children of Carriers. For the professor to have horns means that his parents must have also been Carriers..."

She rubbed her chin in confusion as she thought about the whole situation carefully.

"I've heard that the illness developed within the last several years... But based on this information, it seems that that's not the case. If I remember correctly, they asked for the professor's home contact info. I should contact them before the police..."

"Considering how he was killed, it must've been Mina's doing"

The Director turned around and glared at Jihyo.
