Chapter 20 - Resentment

"It's been a long time..."

Mina's heart dropped as she froze up in disbelief.

"Chae...young...?"

Chaeyoung reached her bloody hand up to Dahyun, who was crying beside her.

"I finally remembered... The thing I wanted to say to you... The thing I have to apologize for..."

"Chae?"

Dahyun held onto Chaeyoung's hand.

"I also remembered..."

She turned to face Mina with a face of pure anger.

"My Mother and Jeong Hun, who I need to avenge!"

She grit her teeth, glaring at Mina as she gripped tightly onto Dahyun's hand before falling unconsicous.

Mina's heart shattered as she sat there paralysed in shock with tears welling up in her eyes.

"CHAE! HANG IN THERE!! DON'T DIE ON ME, CHAE!!"

Mina's shoulders drooped down as she stood up and headed towards the shattered windows from where the soldiers broke in and stepped outside.

"I'll leave Chaeyoung with you. Find a place with people and call an ambulance..."

"Mii?! Where are you going?!"

"I am... going to protect you guys."

"Shit! I shouldn't have come here!"

Hyunjin hid behind a rock just outside of the house with his remaining two Psions, who were crying.

"But if we were to retreat, we would lose her again... I still don't know the extent of her range, but judging from a moment ago, it has to be around 5 meters at best! The clones with deterioration in the telomere cell are inferior to the original, no matter in range or strength. Despite all that, they can still have a range of 10 meters. So, with the differences in range, we still have an advantage. If we manage to cut her nerves it would be all over for her"

He placed his hand one of the girl's helmets, trying to comfort her.

"Diana is under treatment, and Katarina is dead. If only those two were here..."

He felt a chill run down his spine as he heard footsteps coming out from the house.

"Shit! Listen girls, there's a change of plans. Capturing Mina unharmed is no longer an option. Cut her nerves! Keep her alive but make her feel pain! We've still got men on those helicopters up there. Balance is still on our sid-"

An explosion sounded from above them.

Hyunjin turned around to see the helicopter he was just talking about spin out of control and fly into the mountains.

His breaths became rapid as he stared at the flames emitting from the trees.

"Don't tell me... the power to destroy helicopters at such a high altitude belongs to..."

His thoughts were disrupted by the sound of rotor blades behind him.

He turned around to see another helicopter flying in his direction.

"Fuc-"

The whole house shook from the impact
