Chapter 13 - Humanity's Fall

Jihyo's subordinate Sunmi walked through the dark hallway towards a restricted storage chamber that only a limited of people could enter.

"At last... After all that struggle, I've made it here."

She pulled out a key card from her pocket.

"To obtain this, I had to go through so much trouble..."

She swiped the card on the lock and opened the door.

"No matter what happens, I have to hinder the Director's plans"

She walked over towards a structure in the centre of the room.

"This... is the true form of the human butchering demon..."

She went onto the system computer and began searching for something.

"It can't be..."

The screen showed multiple 'empty' messages.

"The materials are all gone! The plans are already this close to completion?!"

She gulped as sweat droplets fell down her face.

"Could it be...?"

Sunmi walked into the room with a worried expression.

She walked up to the Directors desk and stood there silently.

Director Jinyoung took one glance at her and felt something was off.

He got up and walked over to her.

He placed her hand around her neck and held it tightly.

"What are you scheming?"

"N-Nothing. I'm not scheming anything"

"Hm..."

He stared into her eyes with malice as her lips quivered.

"I guess you aren't..."

"D-Director. Couldn't you tell me-"

"I have two things to tell you.", he cut her off.

"Eh?"

"Jihyo has left to go after #9."

Sunmi's eyes widened in shock.

"She's fraudulently ordering the S.A.T and Maritime Self Defence forces to move out on my behalf. Perhaps she plans to kill #9."

"The Chief... is planning to kill her own daughter?"

"But, the bombs inside #9's body are always at ou-"

"The Chief doesn't know about those..."

"Oh? It was convenient for you to not tell Jihyo about them."

Sunmi looked away anxiously.

"Just what is the Chief thinking?! After doing that, she won't get away with only a disciplininary discharge. Why...?"

As Sunmi thought about it carefully, she realised something.
