Chapter 26 - My Debt to You

The Joint Staff responsible for the private research of Psionicus were having a meeting about recent matters.

"Last night, a large-scale explosion occurred at the Psionicus Research Institute. Neutron eruption has been confirmed."

"Neutron? You mean the energy of the blast is comparable to nuclear fission?"

"The details are currently under investigation." 

"But a single living creature cannot hold such power. There should have been something that produced it."

"In any case, it happened on an island far away from the mainland, so it could have been worse."

"True. I don't know what Director Jinyoung's purpose was for creating that island lab, but..."

"Ah, have you been able to contact Jinyoung yet?"

As the members conversed, an assistant walked over to hand the leader a message.

His eyebrows shot up as he read the note.

"An underground explosion?!"

A sudden explosion sent Jihyo flying out of the top of the lighthouse so fast that she didn't even realise she was falling down from it.

She stared blankly up at the debris falling down with her, along with the bloody trail being left behind from her severed arm. 

In the moment, all she could think about was Momo's smile each time she would see her.

She didn't realise how much she really needed her until now. 

She took a deep breath in before letting out a loud scream.

"MOMO!!!"

"I'm here, Mama!"

Jihyo's eyes widened in surprise as Momo latched onto her and bounced off of a falling piece of debris with her Vectors.

"Momo?!"

"Mama! I came to rescue you! Am I a good girl?! Was I of use, Mama?!", she hugged her in mid-air with excitement.

Momo looked back up at the flaming lighthouse and gasped.

"Chaeyoung!?"

The two of them fell all the way down into the sea below.

"T-This is... AN ENORMOUS PEAK WAVE! NOTHING WORKS! THE VECTOR CRAFT IS TOO SCARED AND IS ABOUT TO COLLAPSE!"

"HUH?!"

Junior stumbled back as sweat dripped down his face.

"VECTOR CRAFTS ARE OPPRESSION WEAPONS TO BE USED AGAINST PSIONS! THEY CANNOT COUNTER MINA NOW!"

Nayeon slapped his back repeatedly as she laughed and mocked him.

"Good for nothing! I told you your Vector Craft could never face Mina head on!"

"Why you..."

"COMMANDER! THE COASTAL CITY WILL BE SIGHTED IN NO TIME!"

Junior and Nayeon went over to the door and opened it up.
