Chapter two.

"Orc blood,"

Gimli spat as Legolas, Aragorn and Ariadne jumped over the small stream. A shiver ran up her spine as the trees stared down at them, darkness surrounded them creating a sea of nothingness, only the silver moon peaked through the breaks in the trees.

"These are strange tracks," Aragorn mutters, fingertips gently running his fingertips over the muds.

"The air is so close in here," Gimli complains as Ariadne looks over her shoulder at him.

"The forest is old, full of angered memories," Ariadne replies, taking Aragorn's offered hand as she jumps down from the rocks. They pause as the forest shouts, groans of pain and complaints.

"The trees speak to each other," Legolas continues, sharing a look with Ariadne as Gimli takes his axe raising it high, "Gimli lower you axe, they have feelings, my friend."

"The trees speak," Gimli clears his throat, "What do trees have to talk about, hm, except the consistency of squirrel droppings."

Legolas rushes forward, speaking in Elvish as he and Aragorn communicated, Legolas looked through the trees before looking over his shoulder at them, "The White Wizard approaches."

Silence sits between them for a moment, "Do not let him speak, he will put a spell on us."

Aragorn took his sword from his sheath slightly, Gimli raised his axe as Legolas's takes runs his fingers over the arrows end, drawing his bow slightly. Ariadne takes her dagger from her side, turning it up so the blade rests hidden against her forearm.

"We must be quick."

A bright white light shines around them, Legolas released an arrow as Gimli threw his axe. Aragorn raised his sword but the figure deflected the arrow and the axe as the handle of both Aragorn's sword and Ariadne's blade became hot in their hands causing them to drop them.

"You are tracking the footsteps of two young Hobbits," The voice broke slightly into two.

"Where are they?" Aragorn shouts, holding a hand over his eyes at the burning bright light.

"They passes this way, the day before yesterday, they met someone they did not expect," The light faded slightly, "Does that comfort you?"

"Who are you? Show yourself!" Aragorn orders.

Ariadne's eyes widen as she stares up at Gandalf before a bright smile graced her face as Legolas and Gimli bow at the White Wizard, "Forgive me, I mistaken you for Saruman."

"I am Saruman," The wizard looks upon them, "Or rather Saruman as he should be."

"You fell," Aragorn whispers, stepping closer.

"Through fire and water, on the lowest dungeon to the highest peak, I fought him," He reveals, "And at last, I threw down my enemy and smoked his rein upon the mountain side. Darkness took me and I strained out of thought and time but it was not the end, I felt life in me again and I had been sent back, until my task is done."
