Chapter seven.
"Legolas!"
The Elf looks over his shoulder, taking quick steps to catch Ariadne as she wraps her arms around his shoulders. Uncaring of the men around them, Ariadne places her lips on his, kissing him deeply and urgently. Legolas returns the kiss with the same emotion before breathlessly pulling away, placing his forehead on hers.
"I love you, my beautiful Ariadne,"
"I love you too."
Ariadne places another kiss upon his lips before pulling away, letting their hands slip from another as he helps her haul onto her horse before climbing onto his own. The two ride beside Aragorn, no more than thirty men ride behind them as they watch the doors at the entrance to the hall begin to open.
"Now for wrath, now for ruin, and a red dawn!" The King shouts.
The hall walls shook with each mighty strike against the doors. Ariadne took a deep breath as Gimli set his lips to the horn of Helm Hammerhand, the sound echoing throughout the Deep as the doors burst open. Ariadne drew her sword at the King's battle call.
"Forth Eorlingas!"
The horses charged, the snarls of the Orcs shout at them as they charge through the open gate towards them with their weapons drawn. Charing through the Orcs, the fortress passed them as the horse powered on, Ariadne cutting down Orcs as she went. The daylight shown brightly as they made their way outside, rushing down the causeway.
Ariadne's horse buckles, making her shout in pain as Orcs clawed at her legs, pulling her off the horse. The horse trampled Orcs as it thrashed, Ariadne blocks the Orcs strike, kicking it back as she wrapped the reign around her wrist, her back bumping against the horse as it clamed beside her.
Suddenly, the battle fell silent as both armies looked up upon the mountains. Ariadne smiled in relief as Gandalf stood tall as Eomer and his men rode behind him. Climbing back on her horse, she broke the silence, running the blade of the sword up the Orc's back.
"To the King!"
Eomer led the charge down the mountain towards the battle as the Uruks tried to regroup and fight against the new reformed army. As the armies clashed, Ariadne found herself fighting beside Aragorn and Legolas again, the three continue to fight valiantly as Gandalf approached them with a laugh as he knocked an Orc out with his staff. Ariadne pulled her sword from an Orc's chest, the Orc's army seemed to fall in numbers quickly as the battle continues.
Ariadne's shoulder slumped as she smiled, watching as the Uruk's army fleeing, scrambling away from Helms Deep, "Victory!" The King cried.
Ariadne watched as the fled into the forest, placing her bloodied sword back into her sheath, she turned to Legolas, smiling as he takes her hand in his.
"The battle of Helms Deep is over, the battle of middle Earth has just began."
---
Ariadne walked beside Gandalf as the people emerge from the caves. Men clear the rubble in the halls, laying out blankets for those who are wounded. The young boy rushed from the caves, gently pushing past people. He pauses as he sees her and the wizard before breaking out into a fast run.
Ariadne laughs as the young boy launches himself at her, wrapping his arms around her in a warm hug. The mother stands off the side, watching with a small smile as Gandalf laughs. The young boy pulls back slightly, looking up at Ariadne with blushed cheeks and a wide smile.
"Thank you,"
Ariadne gently brushes back his hair, mirroring his smile, "Your more than welcome."
The young boy hugs her again, Ariadne looks up, her eyes meeting the mothers. She wipes away the fallen tear, nodding in thanks to Ariadne who smiles before ushering the young boy back to his mother.
"You've made him very proud, Ariadne," Ariadne turns to Gandalf, he smiles fondly at her.
"You know," Ariadne whispers, looking up at Gandalf as he hums, leaning against his staff as he nods.
"You are quite the warrior, Princess Ariadne," Gandalf replies, "One that was raised by a strong King."
"I failed to be their Queen, I failed my people, my brother-"
"You have done nothing of the sorts," Gandalf places a comforting hand on her shoulder, "For many months you have fought alongside us to protect the Kingdoms, your own included, you are more than a warrior, you are our Queen."
Ariadne smiles, wiping the tears odd her dusted cheek as Gandalf places a kiss on her head. She watches him walk towards Aragorn with a victorious smile before walking out the hall.
Legolas stands on the bridge, looking out towards the forest. The fields littered with fallen men and their enemies, the sun sat at its highest peak, the light runs down the valley and onto fortress. He looks over his shoulder at Ariadne as she walks towards him, climbing up the rubble and taking his outstretched hand as he gently pulled her closer to him. Resting her head on his shoulder, the two fall in silence, his arm wrapped around her waist, hers around his as he kisses her temple.
"We are leaving for Isengard soon," Ariadne says, voice quiet, matching the moment of peace.
Legolas hums, "Then lets have this moment to ourselves before the Dwarf finds us."
Ariadne laughs, looking up at the Elf with a loving smile, "You love him really."
"I supposed he is easier to deal with when you are around," Legolas murmured, leaning his head on top of hers.
Ariadne closed her eyes contently, resting a hand on Legolas's chest, his heart thumping against her palm. Legolas linked their fingers together, resting them on his chest.
"When this is all over, what will happen to us?" Ariadne gently asks, daring herself to pull away from Legolas, who looks down at her with soften eyes.
"I will love you no matter where we are," Legolas tucks a strand of hair behind her ear, cupping her face, "We've been together for many months, travelling beside one another and I wish to travel all the Kingdoms with you but if you have duties to your King that I will stand beside you."
Wrapping her arms around his shoulders, Ariadne presses her plump lips against Legolas's, pouring all of her love into the kiss. His fingers threaded into her hair, pulling her closer into the kiss, their noses bumping together. Pulling away slightly, her eyes met his, a soft smile gracing her face.
