Chapter five.

Ambernshire was cold. The winter had arrived, snow littered every rooftop, a white mist rolling over the streets. The castle stood tall, the royal blue tapestries blew gently against the wind as the people stood outside the castle as the King stood on at the grand entrance. He sighs as he looks over his shoulder watching as the Army marches either side of him down towards the grand wall surrounding Ambernshire.

Edgar stands high in the tower above, on a balcony as he peers down at the King. His dark blonde hair gently blows behind him as his face remains emotionless, eyes unblinking. The King looks up at the tower, his blue eyes meeting Edgars cold ones. The two stare, faces cold and lost of previous memory of friendship, before Edgar blinks, looking down at the army before walking away.

The King's eyes linger on the tower for a moment longer before following behind his army.

Ariadne helped a young girl off the horse, offering her a kind smile as she takes her bag off her and gently takes her small hand into her own. The young girl pressed herself into Ariadne's side, watching everyone around her cautiously, Legolas knelt down in front of the girl, offering her an apple which she takes with a shy smile.

"Thank you," The young girl murmurs.

"It is not a problem, sweet one," Legolas smiles gently, "Can you see anyone you know?"

The young girl shakes her head, looking up at Ariadne as she kneels beside Legolas, "I'll take you to the hall, we can get you new cloths and maybe we will see someone."

The young girl drops the apple, wrapping her arms around Ariadne's shoulders in a tight hug as she sobs into her neck. Ariadne sighs, holding the young girl close as a tear rolls down her dusted cheek. Legolas wipes the tear away with his fingertips, brushing his fingers over her cheek to tuck hair behind her ear.

---

Legolas's hand wraps around her own as the two stand outside the hall, their shoulders pressed together. They watch people help each other, two young adults reunite with a cry as others smile at the sight, a few heads drop at the thought of their lost ones. Ariadne drops her head on Legolas's shoulder, her other hand wrapping around their hands as Legolas presses a kiss on her head.

Gimli's cry makes Ariadne look up, a smile gracing her face as she lets go of Legolas's hand as she take a quick few steps. Crashing into Aragorn in a hug, he laughs, wrapping his arms around her, squeezing his eyes shut.

"I'm glad you could make it,"

Aragorn laughs, pulling away to cup her face with a soft smile, "As am I, sister."

Aragorn pulls Ariadne in for another hug as Legolas watches with a smile before walking up to the two. Ariadne steps back, letting Aragorn and Legolas reunite before Legolas holds out his hand making Aragorn smile as he takes the necklace from him with a grateful smile.
