Leopold continued to walk toward the village with Diablo and Lucy just behind him. The closer and closer they got to the people who were waiting for them within the village, the more clear it became that they seemed to fear Leopold and his group for some reason... Why was it that they seemed to hesitant to their arrival? Were they government authorities who were stationed in this "abandoned village" to do cleanup? Why were these new people already in a village that Leopold thought had burned down some time before? It was strange...
"We need to be cautious." he warned the two behind him. "These people may be hostile, so be on your guard. The second that they seem like they're going to attack, run back into the woods we just came from..."
"Would not it be a better idea to dispose of them?" Diablo asked.
"More efficient." Lucy agreed.
Leopold sighed, shaking his head. "As I have told you now numerous times, they could be high-ranking officials. We DO NOT need to get on any powerful leader's bad side today..."
They continued to walk toward the village and group of people, keeping wary of any changes in their newcomers actions. When they finally made it to the village center, they stopped and looked at the group of three with their eyes narrowed.
"They seem... familiar." Leopold observed. "Now just where have I seen them before..."
"Master Singe!" Lucy suddenly called, jumping away from Leopold and Diablo in a hurry. She quickly ran over to the orange haired man and jumped into his arms, hugging him. "Master Singe! I've been looking everywhere for you!"
"Sorry, Lucy." the man apologized to the spirit girl. "Didn't mean to leave you behind..."
"Leopold!" the blue haired man called out, relaxing his pose and walking over to the blond haired boy with a faint smile. "So it was just you then... No wonder we felt such a strong presence!"
"Leviathan! I new that I recognized you guys!" Leopold exclaimed, high fiving his friend. "At least it wasn't government officials! It would have been bad if some evil king was out here arresting anyone who dared to tread upon this village!"
"And just why would anyone do that?" the female asked, walking up next to Leviathan. "You boys sure do have some special imaginations..."
"Miss Emerald, correct?" Leopold asked, confirming the girls name.
"Yes. However, I would like if you just called me Emerald. Adding Miss just feels awkward..." Emerald said, making her proposal. Leopold nodded to it as she looked him in the eyes with a smile. "Well now that we have that settled, may I ask you a question?"
"Sure."
Emerald took a deep breath as she gave Leopold a stern look. "So... why is it that you are out here in this secluded village? In fact, how is it that you even know of this place?"
"I was just about to ask you that! Guess that higher-ranking nobles get first question..."
"Well... I used to live in this village." Leopold explained, nervously trying not to put a weird look on his face. "Just a visit is all..."
Both Emerald and Leviathan's eyes widened in shock as looked at each other with puzzled expressions. Leviathan turned to Leopold and frowned. "That just... isn't possible."
"And why not?"
Emerald took a deep breath and cleared her throat quietly. "Well... because I am... a former resident of this village. I lived here before my family became a noble household"
"WHAT?!" Leopold's jaw dropped as he looked Emerald in the eyes. "And all I wanted was a peaceful visit here... YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!
