A few days had passed since Leopold returned to the village. The group reassembled as they told one another of what had happened in the few hours that Leopold was gone(although it was for a few days in the Spirit Kingdom). Apparently, the girl known as Lucy had told everyone of her story and how she was the daughter of a spirit kingdom noble who was currently contracted to Singe.
"I never asked Lemia if she knew Lucy... Maybe next time." Leopold thought to himself as he sat at a bench that Emerald and Singe had managed to build after gathering wood. The blond haired boy was supposed to be eating Emerald's cooking since he hadn't been able to on the night that he had gone to the Spirit Kingdom.
"So, what did it taste like?" Leopold asked Diablo who was next to him.
The black haired spirit looked at Leopold with his usual blank expression. "I can't say for sure. It was delectable, but I am sure that there is better."
"Again, talk normally for once..."
Sighing, Leopold looked over at Emerald who was cooking from a short distance away. She wore a bright smile as she stirred the soup she was making for the group. "She seems so happy... I do remember that Emy talked during our poorer days about wanting to be a professional cook. I guess that she held that dream with her all these years..." Leopold frowned. "That reminds me... I need to ask her a few questions later."
After a few more moments, the food was finally done as Emerald brought everyone at the table some soup in bowls that had been crated from the same wood the table was crafted from. She smiled.
"Dinner is ready!"
Leopold looked at the steaming bowl of soup as he tried not to panic. In his experience, there were two kinds of people who cooked... First were the people like Mikayla. They were five star gourmet chefs who made sure that every meal was delectable! Then there were the people like Thomas who was his butler... They tried to make meals that would be edible, but ended up poisoning you to where you had to stay in bed for around three weeks...
"Maybe it's like Mikayla's cooking! It had better be or I'm done for..." Leopold thought to himself. This was a matter of life or death! It was all in the hands of fate now... "God, please let me live after this! I pray to Thee that I will be spared!"
The boy slowly picked up his wooden spoon and then dipped it into the soup. He raised it to his mouth and then took the bite, sweating from fear. However, when he had tasted the food and all that it offered him, his eyes lit up in joy.
"It's... so good!" he cried. Leopold devoured the rest of his bowl as tears of pure happiness flowed from his eyes. "It's so freaking delicious! My thanks to the wonderful chef for sparing my life!"
"You sure are dramatic..." Lucy observed from the other side of the table. "I already knew that Singe was a bit of an oddball, but are all boys this dumb as well!"
"Hey! I'm right here!" Singe exclaimed from beside her.
"Well I'm glad that you like it, Leo!" Emerald said, smiling.
That fateful night, Leopold managed to eat a total of thirteen different bowls of Emerald's soup! He found himself sick with a stomach ache the next morning and had to rest for the next three weeks as a consequence! When the time of his rest was finally up, the group decided to go on an exploration journey through out the village to see what was left inside from after the residents had all either died or left.
There was just one minor problem...
"Emerald, do you care to remind me... WHY THE HECK YOUR CLINGING TO MY ARM?!" Leopold exclaimed as he watched the noble girl who was handing on his left arm.
