Nova's entire body was cold... Darkess surrounded the girl as an infinite void lay before her... She couldn't move... Where was she? The princess had been talking to Sir Leopold... and then everything had just gone black.
"What happened? Was I attacked?" she wondered, that being the only conclusion Nova could come to. She needed to open her eyes! She had to figure out what was happening.
Painfully, she tried to force her eyelids open. The blurry sight of what looked to be rock walls came into view as a campfire lit up Nova's surroundings. She seemed to be in a cave with no other persons around. The girl looked down and found that her arms and legs were bound by rope. Her mouth was also covered with rope, most likely to keep her quiet.
"I must have been kidnapped then..."
Now when most people are kidnapped against their will, they freak out and whine and cry in fear at what is happening to them. Nova would be doing that, but unfortunately for her this wasn't the first time that she had been kidnapped...
It happened around six years prior...
Six years ago...
Princess Nova had always been a curious child. Even though she was a princess and had to remain "regal" at all times, the girl didn't really listen to the rules set for her and instead did things "her own way" so as to have a little more fun.
These were the reasons that one day she met a commoner boy by the name of Icar. He was a commoner sure, but Nova took a liking to the boy. The two became friends almost instantly and so Nova would sneak out of the royal castle as often as possible to go and meet with him.
Then one day the chaos began...
Nova and Icar were sitting on a hill some distance from the castle as they starred at the setting sun. Nova looked over at Icar wirh curious eyes as she wanted to ask something of him.
"Icar, why is it that you made friends with me anyway?" she asked him.
The boy yawned. "Is this really the kind of small talk you had in mind, princess?" He sighed and then scratched his head. "I guess... It's just that I've never had a friend. Growing up in the slums was lonely and I didn't have a family..." The boy blushed. "D-Don't go thinking that I actually liked you or anything!"
Nova laughed and then nodded. "Sure." The girl stood up and then stretched her arms. "Well I probably need to head back. My parents will come looking for me sooner or later." She smiled and then walked off. "See ya tomorrow, Icar!"
She walked home for a few minutes down the streets of the capital city of Vinhold, thinking off all the stuff she and her friend would do the next day. "Maybe Icar can take me to some shops! Or we could steal some bread! That sounds fun!" However, things would not go so smoothly for the young girl.
Nova suddenly felt a hand cover her mouth as immediately darkness clouded her vision. She couldn't even think of what was happening as all that was on her mind was sudden fear.
She was being kidnapped.
When the princess awoke some time later, she was trapped within a rickety wooden building. Her body was bound by rope and she could see two men watching over her from a few feet away.
"How much do you think we can get for her?" the first man asked.
"I'd guess at least a small fortune! Snatching the princess was such a good idea!" the second said, excitedly. He walked over to Nova and grinned evilly. "Don't worry, Princess! You'll be returned to your father soon... Once he pays our ransom!" The man laughed.
"I'm getting hungry... We got any bread left?" the first one asked his partner.
"Dunno. Let's go check." The second man was about to follow his partner towards a small kitchen at the corner of the room, but was suddenly struck down as a figure fell from the roof above him.
