Leopold ran through the forests outside the capital city. He could sense Princess Nova's mana being dragged into different parts of the forest along with another presence that Leopold had never felt before this moment. The royal knights of Vinhold were trailing him from behind as they all were in search of the kidnapped princess.
"I need to find her before something terrible happens!"
Leopold had gone through a similar experience some years back when Princess Ivory had been taken by kidnappers. It took Leopold and Lucas a whole three days to find her! They almost lost their jobs thanks to the whole event...
"Damn it... How far could she have been taken?!" he asked aloud, gritting his teeth in frustration. Among Stashin's entire royal guard, Leopold was second best when it came to tracking people's mana that lingered in the air! He should have been able to find her much easier!
"Master! I think I have found them!" Diablo suddenly called to Leopold, coming up beside him. Leopold had sent him to do some digging of his own while Leopold had been tracking the mana path.
The boy nodded. "Lead the way." The two boys rushed through the forest toward what looked to be some sort of cave.
"Makes sense... A cave would be a good place to unsuspectingly hide something or someone from searching eyes."
Leopold and Diablo stopped outside the cave for a few moments. "We need to be careful... If we don't do this correctly, Princess Nova could get hurt." Leopold said to his partner. "You wait outside the cave for the moment. I will go in myself."
Diablo nodded. "Signal when you need me, sir."
Nodding to his friend one last time, Leopold took a deep breath and then walked closer to the entrance of the cave. He put his gloved right hand on the sword at his side in defense. He would prefer if at all possible to negotiate with the kidnapper and avoid bloodshed, but that idea didn't seem to be a common thing to happen...
"I need to prepare for if they try to assault the princess or myself..." When the boy finally arrived at the cave's opening, he peeked inside to see what awaited for him. Strangely, it looked like Princess Nova was... TALKING WITH THE KIDNAPPER?! "The heck did I miss here?!"
"How the heck should I even proceed now? I'm so confused..." Leopold whispered under his breath. Was the kidnapper threatening her or something? That had to be the reason... Why else would a distinguished princess such as Nova be speaking to someone who could sell her for cash or possible worse?! Taking one more deep breath, Leopold unsheathed his sword and then stepped to where he could be seen.
"Here we go..."
"My name is Leopold Stratus and I have been sent by King Julius Vinhold XI to retrieve Princess Nova!" He tightened his grip on the sword. "You will back away from Miss Nova slowly..."
The man in the cloak stood up and backed toward the princess. "Crap! I knew that I should have fled farther than this location..." He picked up a stick from the ground and pointed it at Leopold in defense.
"The heck does he think that's going to do?" Leopold wondered.
The boy was about to take down the mysterious man soon after, however he was stopped as Princess Nova stood up and flailed her hands.
"W-Wait! Please stop for a moment, Sir Leopold!" the girl cried.
Leopold blinked. "Huh?" He lowered his sword at her command. "Sorry? I'm not following you, Princess Nova... Didn't he kidnap you?" Was there really something he had missed? He was sure that she had been taken by this man! She was literally in a cave with her kidnapper outside of the capital city!
