Bella's P.O.V.

Today was a weird day I thought as I tossed my bag on the bed. I looked out the window and saw Kate approaching the tree beneath my window, I opened it and stepped aside.

"Hey, what's up? Didn't think you'd be here today. I thought you and the rest went hunting."

"I was but I came to check on you. Why do you smell like a wet dog?" she asks, scrunching up her nose.

"Well, let's just say I've had a very long, very interesting day." I answer.

"Meaning? Are you okay?"

"I don't know actually. I mean I guess I am."

"What happened?"

"I..." I paused, should I tell her? I mean technically werewolves and vampires were enemy's right? I guess I don't really have a choice though...

"Hey, you can tell me anything Bella," she said soothingly, lifting my chin to look into my eyes.

"I... umm... I kinda shifted into a wolf today." I blurted out, fidgeting with my hands nervously. "Let me go see if I can get something about it out of my dad without him thinking I'm crazy. I'll be right back."

"Okay, I'll wait," Kate responds, flabbergasted.

I quickly make my downstairs to the living room. Charlie's sitting in his favourite recliner, beer in hand, watching a baseball game.

"Hey dad," I called to him nervously.

"What's up Bells?"

"I uh, I was wondering ... uh do you know anything about the gigantic wolves running around on the rez?" I decide to just kind of blurt it out, while starting at the floor.

Why is he so nervous now, does he know something about it? "Dad, just tell me please!"

"Did something happen?" He asks, looking me in the eyes.

"Kinda."

"Okay, no more avoiding this talk I guess," he says, taking a deep breath and muting the T.V.. "Yes, I know about them Bells. I probably should have told you a long time ago. But, I honestly wasn't sure it'd happen to you. So, I didn't wanna worry you unnecessarily. I'm a wolf too, I'm 100% Quileute Indian. Which makes you half native because Rene is only human, that's why I wasn't sure if it'd happen to you. None of the other wolves know because I was in this house when I first shifted. I was already married to Rene then. So no one found out, I hid it from her, you, and everyone else. How do you think I've stayed sheriff so long? I'm healthy, strong, and age slowly, because of the family I was born into," he finishes with a large sigh, his shoulders slump as if a huge weight has been lifted.

"Well, that's a lot to take in but thanks for telling me. Oh and... I phased today it was weird, and painful, and everyone saw me naked."

"I figured that was probably where this came from, the native don't usually just let people know about it. I mean they have their legends but "they're just legends"," he says, with air quotes.

"Yeah, I've heard them, but never really gave them credit as real."

"Just please be careful, oh and before I forget, Kate Denali get your vampire ass down here please.''

I blanched, but didn't say a word. I guess he could probably hear and smell her, I mentally face palmed myself. Kate appears in front of us with the blink of an eye.

"Hello, Mr. Swan. I promise that I'm not going to hurt Bella at all, ever. Also, I wanted permission to officially date Bella even if we are dating officially. I just wanted permission from you sir, she's my soulmate."

"Hello, Kate. Yes, it's okay for you to date. I know you won't hurt her, you can't. But, that doesn't mean other people can't, please Kate takes care of my baby.''

"I will sheriff," she says, meeting his eyes.

"And stop with Mr. and sheriff please. Feel free to call me Dad or Charlie okay?" Dad chuckles.

"Okay, Charlie."

"Now I'm going over to Billy's, I'm sure he has some questions for me. Oh, and good luck Bells," he said and winks at me.

I gave him a confused look, "Okay dad, and like you probably need good luck more than me, be careful in your old age," I say, laughing.

"Ha-ha, real funny. I'm not that old yet, I promise you," he says heading out.

I turned to look at Kate, "Well, that was one weird conversation don't you think."

"Definitely, but then it's not every day your daughter becomes a wolf and is dating a vampire," Kate responds, with a beautiful musical chuckle.
