"we should go find Crystal" Charles suggested, Frances stopped leaning on the brick wall and stood up straight "where is she?" Charles stood by the brunette "well-" He scratched the back of his neck before he continued "Crystal spoke to a demon" His voice got high pitched towards the last word "She what?!?" Frances shouted, worried for Crystal and confused how and why she spoke to a demon, one of the most dangerous things you can talk to...other than a cat.
"It happened after you ran off" Charles added on "Where is she?" Frances asked the boy "Right now... behind the butcher shop" Frances ran off to the butcher shop, where her home was, Charles ran closely behind "alright you needa slow down" He spoke out of breath "I thought ghosts were fast?" Frances kept running as she talked "yeah but you're too fast."
Eventually Frances and Charles made it to the butcher place, where Crystal stood "Charles told me you spoke to a demon" Frances British voice got the attention of the psychic "Uh- yeah" Crystal answered "what did the demon say or do?" Frances got closer to the curly headed girl "He said he wanted to get back inside my body- and that he won't give me back my memories" Charles cleared his throat after he had chuckled "you think this is funny?" Crystal asked with a tone of anger "no its just- he wanted to get inside you- sorry. I'll shut up" Charles found that sentence funny thanks to his dirty minded self "Wait- he took your memories?"
Crystal nod her head "That's why I can't remember anything.." She paused "I get angry.. its like knowing you have a home but then you get there...." her eyes narrowed down to the ground "we'll figure this out" Frances had a half smile on her face "Together" Crystal nod her head, happy that a few people wanted to help a lost teenager.
"You two, come with me. We need a mirror." Charles begin to walk away with his bag slung over his shoulder "lets go girls"
Few moments later Frances walked into Crystal's small room where she was currently living at "ah, there's a mirror" Charles dropped his bag on the floor, making a slight noise from the heavy object"did you guys just see that?" Crystal finally walked in the room after she stared at Niko, the other girl who lived upstairs of the butcher shop "I saw nothing" Frances commented on the subject before Charles changed it "Look i'm gonna show you something but promise me you will never tell Edwin" Frances glanced at Crystal, not knowing what Charles would show them "Is this about to get weird?" Crystal asked with an uncertain face.
Charles index finger touched the mirror, the mirror's glass moved as he touched it, soon after that there was two older people inside on a couch "Come to watch them probably once a week in the last 30 years or so" Frances walked closer to the mirror to get a better look, they looked familiar "are these your parents?" Crystal asked while she kept looking at the mirror "mhm" He hummed "I saw them when I shook your hand" Frances backed away from the mirror, she was now between the two people "Oh yeah? What did ya see?" Frances sighed "Them holding you as a baby, your mom saying your name for the first time." Charles smiled a little bit, remembering the short years of his life
"They've had a good life, its mostly Tetley tea and biscuits. My dad was... he wasn't the nicest guy... rough" Frances frowned as Charles whole expression changed from happy to sad "and my mum was just quiet. They're mostly happy now" Frances placed her hand on his shoulder for comfort "well you have us, don't you?" The side of his lips grew, it made his cheekbones very visible, that's how big the smile was.
His eyes went back to Crystals face "look I do know what its like when you can't go home, if you're sticking around, you gotta let us in" His eyes went to Frances eyes "that goes with you too." Frances licked her lips then looked down at her black shoes, not wanting to make eye contact. There was a lot of stuff she didn't tell them, and frankly she didn't want to, but he was right, if they were going to solve all sorts of weird cases, they have to get to know each other.
"Charles!" Edwin shouted, his footsteps loud and clear. Charles waved his hand across the mirror, making the picture of his parents disappear. "I found some information on the witch. Let's go downstairs quickly." He started to walk away from the room "oh" He stopped and turned around "this information is only for detectives in good standing." Crystal stopped the boy from walking "Okay, i'll tell you the truth" Edwin looked at the teen "but it's basically a story how I was just stupid" she warned the two ghost and one human who stood in the room.
"At first I didn't know David was a demon and I kinda fell for him. By the time I realized what he was... I guess it didn't matter..." Edwin cut in her mid sentence "You knew he was a demon and let him in?!" "I'm a psychic. I seen a bunch of weird things. I thought it was love I was an idiot! Look I never said he possessed me against my will"
Frances slowly turned her head to Charles "what is going on-" She asked the ghost boy "Shh, just watch" Frances nod her head before looking in front of her "Yes I knew he was a demon and I let him in but he must've lied to me. It was like being trapped in a tiny box. I still don't know must of what he did, he wouldn't leave." Edwin ran off in anger, he disliked both of the girls so much for some odd reason.
"I'm going to follow him" Frances went to the butcher shop area, where Edwin paced around the room with his chest moving up and down from breathing heavy, he stopped when Crystal came down. "It's a joke to you, playing detectives. Do you know what happened when I died, Crystal? Nothing. My disappearance was labeled an act of god." He was mostly mad at Crystal for letting a demon in, all his attention was on her, not Frances. "And Charles, the boarder school covered up what happened to him. Our deaths didn't matter. No one ever solved them. This is not a game! We are solving cases that would never be solved. Police don't know what to do with a fucking witch!" He shouted loudly, making Frances flinch, Charles grabbed the side of her arm in a comforting way.
"when I was in Becky moms mind today with all of the grief and that pain, I thought what if my parents are feeling that way about me?" Frances looked down at the floor, she felt her heartbreaking at Crystals words "I just wanna help. It does matter" Crystal grabbed Edwin pale hand. "This case does matter" Edwin looked over at Charles.
"When my brother died, I didn't even know for the first three days..." Frances started to speak up, she wanted to tell the truth; the truth about her experience with pain and grief. "My parents didn't want to tell me because they knew I would want to solve it myself..they thought the cops could figure out what happened but that didn't happen, the cops said there weren't any evidence to say it was a murder and claimed it was a suicide" Her head tilted down "But I knew that was wrong- I knew something had happened to him. I went to his school when it closed down for the night, I remember seeing him... my brother. He led me to where he died, he told me everything. I tried to tell my parents what happened but they didn't believe me, neither did the cops. Soon everyone heard about it and called me a freak, everyone avoided me." She brought her head back up while she wiped the small tear coming from her eyes "I don't want Becky's parents to feel like I did, to feel like they caused her disappearance. We need to help them, even if that means adding two alive humans to your group. We really want to help her." She finished speaking with a sniffle, Charles had a frown on his face after hearing Frances story, it must've been so hard for her.
Edwin sighed in defeat "Fine. You two can come along."
