Frances quickly followed Charles, who was getting everything he needed before he left to go in the field that Niko previously traveled in,causing the paranormal parasites to enter her body "Can I come along with you two?" Frances asked the curly headed boy "It will be dangerous for you" Charles said while putting the same pink book in his brown backpack "And dangerous for you too" Frances got a hold of his shoulder and turned his body around, he now faced her. "I'm a ghost, it wouldn't effect me as much as it would for you" Charles slung the brown bag over his shoulder as he got ready to leave "I really want to go" Frances pouted her lips, slightly begging him to bring her on his adventures though the forest, Charles groaned "How can I say no to you?" Frances had a toothy smile on her face "but you know how Edwin would react." Charles added, making Frances frown "But sure, i'll bring you along IF you promise me to stay safe" Frances got overly excited, she embraced Charles in a tight hug, happy that Charles agreed to bring her. Charles was taken aback, he never had such a tight hug in his life, ghost and human years.
"Aight mate, I may be dead but you are squeezing me" Charles let go of the hug "Sorry" Frances took a few steps back "I just don't want to babysit" Charles chuckled "Me neither. Come on now" Charles walked in front of Frances, she followed him from behind.
"Are you ready to go?" Edwin patted his light brown coat while he looked over at Charles "Yeah.." Charles turned his head back to Frances "Shes coming with us." Edwin's whole mood changed "She is not joining us." Edwin clenched his cold jaw together "Why? Shes brills at what she does" Edwin gulped before walking up to Charles "These dandelions are highly toxic. She could end up like Niko." Edwin's eyes stopped at Frances eyes, staring directly in her soul "I'm pretty sure I can take care of myself" Frances stepped away from Charles, now standing on his right side "I'm a big girl and been doing this for years." Charles smiled at his female friend when she stuck up for her self, it's about time Edwin put him in his place. Edwin huffed "If something happens to you it will not be my fault, understood." Frances nodded her head quickly "we should get going." Edwin stormed off "Told ya he would be a bit grumpy" Charles said, Frances hit the side of Charles with her elbow "Doesn't matter anymore, right? I'm coming along."
TIME SKIP
In Charles hand were the map that Niko drew, it looked cartoony "Niko's map helps, yeah?" Charles stopped in his tracks to look down at his hand "It doesn't look real" Frances commented on the subject "better than how I used to draw" Frances chuckled at his joke "I'm no artist but I think I draw pretty well" Frances stopped looking at the paper in his hand "Really? Could you draw me?" Frances looked up at the taller boy "there's a possibility"
"Could you two focus on our mission and not flirt?" Edwin snatched the paper from Charles hand, after he did that the green bush beside him shuffled "Seven.. or was that six again?" Edwin has been counting every cat he saw, he's currently at six cats. "You're at six, and that was not a cat" Frances informed Edwin "Did I ask for your opinion?" Edwin asked Frances in a bitter tone, a hint of jealousy in his voice "alright lets not start anything, yeah?" Charles took the paper from Edwin's hand as he begun to walk once again "what if we don't find the shrine?" Frances asked the two dead boys, worried that this was just a big waste of time "We will, don't worry bout' it"
While walking, Edwin stepped on a white bone that cracked "Is that a dead body?" Frances looked at the bone once Edwin took his shoe off from it "We're getting closer" The air was now covered in dandelions slowly falling on the grass from the wind "Here" Charles took off his brown bag and got out a black bandana, he stopped Frances from walking. Charles carefully put the bandana around her nose and mouth, covering her face from the paranormal parasites.
Frances looked in the boys dark eyes while he focused on putting the cloth around her face to protect her, she found it adorable the way his tongue stuck out while he was focusing on putting the bandana on "there you go, all protected" Frances stopped her thoughts once Charles said something "Thank you" Her British voice was a bit muffled from the cloth being so close to her face "mhm"
The eery wind blew the brown, dead leaves on the grass, making the gray skeletons visible "ew" Frances said in disgusted when she looked down at her shoes, only to see a dead body with flies around it, eating its leftover flesh. She looked closer at the dead body, making sure she kept a distance from it. Inside the skeleton were a white dandelion coming out of its mouth "Is this what you meant by exiting the body..." Frances got both of the boys attention as they looked at her direction "That is exactly what we meant." Frances kicked the skeleton's head, causing the dandelion to limp over "Don't touch it." Edwin warned the teen.
Frances stood back up straightly, her eyes went to the white shrine that was in front of her "I found the shrine" Frances rushed over to the white stone with plenty of lines carved into it "good job" Charles applaud to her discovery, her hands firmly traced the lines with the overgrown moss inside of the carving "been here for a long time, hence the moss." Frances took her hand off of the white stone. Edwin had a weird took in his hand "what's that?" Frances asked, not knowing what object it was. "Its called a lexicographic lenses" Charles informed her, she hummed with a nod.
Edwin bent down while the lenses held close to his eyes, his plan was to read the letters that someone scratched off. "it appears to be a crude assemblage of runes and some type of lettering" Edwin switched the lens, hoping to make the words more clear "so..can you read it?" Charles bent down with Edwin, his hands on his kneecaps while he watched the professional teen "its base root is oddly similar to Coptic. Maybe they share a common root?"
"Can you read it?" Frances joined the conversation, Edwin started to repeat the words on the shrine "these small gods require constant gifts... wait no not gifts... sacrifices. They feed on the attention of others." Frances glanced at Charles "so they enter the bodies of people because the person is a sacrifice?" Frances asked a question "that's correct" Edwin answered her, he read the other parts of the sentences "Only this shrine's enchanted vessel can contain the sprites" Edwin took off the lexicographic from his face after he finished the reading.
Charles walked to the other side of the shrine "enchanted how? Can I grab it? Should I not grab it?" Charles asked Edwin once he saw the vessel underneath "I wouldn't grab it-" Frances tried to warn him about the many things that could turn wrong, but without any thinking, Charles bent down and got the pot "or not." Frances sighed "I grabbed it" Charles held it up high "we can see that."
The skeletons from the ground started to lift up their arms "ah shit" Frances cursed once she heard the loud groaning. She felt something grab her ankle, she looked down and saw the dead person holding on "Shit!" Frances screamed, Charles saw her frightened behavior, he slammed the white vase on the skeletons hand, breaking it into piece "bullocks!" Charles grabbed the things that fell out and placed it inside his coat, he then grabbed Frances hand and ran away, following Edwin.
