" Circe, hurry please!" Called a gentle but high, boy-ish voice, coming from up higher. It'd echo around like we were in a valley, and I let out a small giggle and said
" Just give me a few minutes Eric! You know this will take me a little bit!"
" You've got five minutes!" His voice said again. I sigh and let out a long breath, looking at myself in the mirror. My reflection showed my young, small body, giving me the look of 12 despite being 14. My hair hangs slightly above my shoulders, wavy, showing off its unique, cloud-white colour. Though my bangs cover part of them, I can still see my light, nearly white grey eyes staring back at me. My eyes wander down to my simple button up, white, lolita type dress, that was sort of stiff but was easy to move in. The white gloves I wore would seem impractical due to my circus act, vut they weren't as bad as they seemed. I wear white tights, and white buckle-up shoes, and there are hidden straps on my legs with dagger sheaths, for later on. I look at my pale, ghostly white skin, and smile. I look and feel ready, I thought. I then called out " Alright, I'm all ready to go!" I then walk towards the curtain which leads into an outdoor ring. I hear another voice from the other side of the curtain.
" Come one, come all! I welcome you to The Black Snow Circus! I am your ringleader, Jack! Are you ready to see our daring performers? Well, let's not keep you waiting!"
I laugh slightly at the sound of my brothers voice as he speaks again
" I welcome to the ring, Circe! Our beloved knife thrower who's a bit scary but incredible nonetheless!"
I heard my cue, and cartwheeled on in to the ring. Lights flashing, audience roaring. Ah, the feel of the circus. In the middle of the ring is 5 targets. I pull out 5 knives, which would seem to appear out of thin air to the common eye. I grin, and throw each one, and when they hit each bullseye, the targets lit on fire! The entire audience gasped, but seeing as it was apart of the act, they all cheered and applauded. I then called out " I hope you don't think thats all!" And then let out another smile once again, and grabbed a blindfold, covering my eyes, and grabbed more knives. Now, there are swinging targets in the air with people on them! I immediately throw the knives, and each one landed above the people on the targets limbs. The entire audience roared with excitement and applause, and I bowed. " That's my sister for you! My reckless but adorable little sis-" He was cut off by a knife flying by him and landing on another target as I laughed and said " Would you like to continue that sentence, Jack?"
He looked at me with a look of shock, but then laughed, and so did the audience. I did another bow and said " I hope you enjoyed the show! Bye bye now!" I say, my voice sounding like a child's. Before exiting, I threw five more knives at the audience, and revealed hidden targets, and straw flew off as I hit them again. The audience clapped, and I took my final bow before finally cartwheeling out of the ring. I am greeted by another boy, one who was small, like me, his frame weaker looking than most. He had light, fluffy orange hair, and dark, sea-grey eyes. He wore a white short-sleeved shirt, and black leather gloves, as well as black pants. He had shiny black shoes, and his skin was a dark tan. He spoke, and it was the same voice from before the show
" Hey Circe, maybe give your brother a break." He laughed " Anyways, guess it's my turn!" He then passed. Me, and handed me a small paper, whispering " There's a mission, the whole team." He then returned to smiling as I said " Ok, good luck, Eric!" I say, childish as usual. " Thanks, Circe." And then he walked to the curtain leading into the ring. I could hear my brother's voice as it echoed all around the place. " Now,I welcome Eric! Our daring, entertaining, flamethrower!" As soon as the word 'flamethrower" came off my brother's lips, Eric entered, swirling sticks of fire, so quickly that it seemed the flames couldn't touch him. Both sticks were completely covered in flames, no safety measures at all. I leapt and climbed on to a secret spot that was perfect for watching. I sat on the platform, enjoying myself as I watched the show. He threw the sticks in the air, and they twirled, looking like a shooting star in a dark night sky. I enjoyed it. Then, one flew towards my spot, which was hidden from view, and I didn't flinch, laughing at the sight of the flames. They fell and he caught them, and cartwheeled around as he literally played with fire. I then heard a few steps behind me and turned to see a girl, who is much taller than I am. She wears a black, tight long-sleeved shirt with matching leggings, and no shoes. Her long, burgundy hair falls below her waist, and her deep green eyes shine with a glint of dominance. " Heeey Tara! Whatcha doin up here?" I say.
" Still as childish as ever, it seems. Decided to come watch Eric with you, with the mission later on tonight."
" Oh yeaaaah! Who we going for? Seems like it'll be boooriiiing as usual! But maybe it'll be fun with the whole team being needed!"
" Yeah yeah, it's a group of white rats thinking they were smart enough to chase after the black wolves."
"It really will be boring. What a shame, what a shame." I say, sighing. I see Tara laugh a bit as she says
" You really are an odd one with that freaky personality of yours. Whatever. Oh, it seems like Eric's done. My turn." She says, and she gets up, and I give her a goofy smirk and say " Don't fall!" And she laughs shaking her head as she vanishes from view. I lean back, lying down, giggling uncontrollably. " Oh maybe this will be fun.. fun, fun, fun! I can't wait to have fun" I giggle, and sit up to watch Tara, a wide grin on my face as my eyes stay wide, like a doll almost. I hear my brother begin to say " Annnnd now, welcome Tara, our flexible, fast, slightly threatening acrobat! You might want to look upwards for this!" As he says that, everyone in the audience, including me, look up to see Tara on a tightrope, doing crazy tricks. First, she crouched and leapt, doing a backflip and landing on one foot, and then walked on the tightrope with no problems as she did cartwheels, front handsprings, back handsprings, and more. I watch in slight amazement, even after seeing it hundreds of times. I watched as she then seemed to fall backwards, but did a full on 360 and sung back onto the tightrope. "Oooooo" I said as I watched. She then seemed to run down a tall post, ignoring the laws of gravity as she landed on the ground, completely fine, and bowed. That was her cue to leave, and she did tricks right before finally exiting the ring. The entire audience clapped and cheered, and even though I had to remain quiet so my spot wasn't found, I cheered silently. " And now, last, but certainly not least, Mary! She may look small, but she has a large, fierce heart! Welcome, our beast-tamer!" Called Jack, and another woman entered the stage. She was definitely small, but a bit taller than me. Her short, wavy black hair swished around, and her piercing yellow eyes were as though like a lions. Speaking of lions, multiple beasts followed her in. Lions, Tigers, even elephants! She set up a hoop in the middle of the ring, and without having to say anything, each lion leapt through. There was also a small set of stairs leading to a small platform, which hadn't been there before, and each tiger climbed it, to the platform, where she was standing, and they all bowed, somehow, before her. The audience clapped. Then, Mary leapt from the platform onto an elephants back, doing a few tricks, nothing that would hurt the elephant though. Everyone "ooed" and "awwed" and though it would seem cool, I didn't pay much attention. Once again, I heard footsteps behind me and see Eric and Tara. " Hey Circe!" Says Eric. I wave and say " You did great out there, both of you. You looked like you were having fun." They both smiled and said at the exact same time
" You did great too!" And a look of surprise was on their face. They shrugged, and just gestutree for me follow them. I nodded, skipping after them like nothing would happen. After all, we were just The Black Snow Circus...we were so much more then just a circus.
