--Evelyn's POV--

I laugh as Oscar honks his horn telling me to hurry up, "When you said we were going shopping I didn't expect you to pull up outside my apartment ten minutes later," I tell him hopping into the front seat. He smiles and immediately slams on the gas.

"Lando needs to be cheered up. He hates that he didn't finish the last race cause of Daddy's money Stroll. I got his measurements from his tailor and we are getting him something to wear to the gala tomorrow," he says like he's been thinking about this for a while. Lando has been a little distant since I stayed at his place. He has been texting here and there but he's been harder on himself.

Oscar blasts music as we drive to wherever he is taking me. The wind in my hair is making me wish Lando could drive so we could have late-night talks again, "Are you sure this is the best idea?" I ask as we browse through the endless racks of suits. I find a maroon one and show it to him but he shakes his head and goes back to looking.

"We should just get a black suit. You can't fail with that," I point out as he nods his head agreeing, "Why do you want him to go so badly?" I ask as I pass him.

"Cause he's the only person who can lead a conversation while also hyping me up for potential manager. I hate the political side of this sport. I just want to drive, ya know?" He asks as I nod my head.

"I don't understand how he is so outgoing. I don't even know how we got together because of how different we are," I smile.

"I just need him there so I don't fuck up potential contracts...not that I want to leave McLaren," he says.

"I know you have to keep your options open"

I walk toward a store associate and we show them the suit we are looking at and the measurements we need them. They tell me it shouldn't take long and that the suit should be ready by 2 pm tomorrow afternoon which is perfect. I follow Oscar outside of the door and steal the aux cord playing the playlist Spotify made for our accounts. He side-eyes me as Taylor Swift plays but I happily turn it up, "You need a dress probably," he says as he pulls up outside of a boutique closer to town.

"I won't torture you with dress shopping," I assure him as he looks relieved, "I'll call Kyla or something," I tell him as I hop out of the car, "Thanks for the ride and I will make sure Lando is there tomorrow".

He thanks me before pulling away so he's not blocking traffic. I grab the door handle and hear my name being called, "Was that Oscar?" Max asks as he stops in front of me putting his phone in his pocket. He's covered in sweat so I'm assuming he just went for a run.

"Yup. We just went suit shopping for Lando so we can force him to go to the gala tomorrow," I inform him as I put my hands on my hips trying to use Max's head to block the sun.

He checks his watch and clicks something that is tracking his workout before looking back at me, "How is he? I haven't had the chance to stop by," He says.

"His bruising is going away and he keeps saying he's fine but broken ribs can't be comfortable. He's in a funk so we are hoping this brings him out of it. Sadly, that means I have to go dress shopping," I frown as I face the shop.

He rolls his eyes with a smile as I join in on his laughter, "How dreadful for you," he sarcastically says, "I should get going but I guess I will see you guys tomorrow," he smiles. I immediately go into the shop to get out of the heat. I don't know how that guy is running in this heat.

The woman at the front counter said she was having a slow day and we bonded over the dresses. By the end of it, I would have trusted her with my social security number. She was the hypest hype person I've ever met besides Lando. I told her I wanted an orange dress and she was immediately interested in helping. I'm surprised how many options there were but we landed on one that was a little out of my budget. I justified it by saying it's for a good cause. I stand in front of the mirror and she pulls my hair up to show that it would look better out of my face.

"I feel hot," I laugh as he nods her head, "This dress is amazing"

There is a large slit up the right side of it making my leg pop out. The neckline is a v-neck style but it's tamer than something I'd wear but that's made up with the leg, "Why orange if you don't mind me asking? It's not the most asked-for color," She says as I turn to the side to see how I look. When my phone lights up on the table in front of us she sees my background, "Holy shit, that's Lando Norris," she whispers.

"That's why," I tell her with a light laugh not knowing how she's going to react.

"I saw the crash the other weekend. How is he doing? I can't believe I'm helping his girlfriend try on dresses," She fangirls as I shake my head.

"We are trying to keep it on the low for now about our relationship," I inform her which she totally understands, "And he's better thanks for asking. I was absolutely terrified and I don't think I was mentally prepared for how dangerous this sport really is," I reveal as she helps me step down from the small incline I'm on.

"The entire arena went silent as the safety car went out. I won't lie I expected the girlfriends of F1 drivers to be more stuck up but I think I'm just jealous they have hot boyfriends and money," she says as I lose it.

"I definitely would have thought the same but I can assure you I am broke and everyone I've met is insanely nice," I assure her. She has a smile plastered on her face as she checks me out and I thank her again for all her help. I will definitely be going back there. I am going to order a car when I see Lando walking down the street. He's wearing a snapback and a hoodie talking with some guy that I've never seen before. He is covered head to toe in tattoos and he's smiling as Lando's face is hidden. The guy opens a car door and Lando ducks inside before they speed away. I wonder what that's about.
