--Evelyn's POV--

I push through the door and see Kyla unpacking our Halloween decorations making me laugh at how eager she is, "I thought you were waiting for me?" I ask as she looks like a child with their hand caught in the cookie jar.

"I didn't think you'd come home until late," she says as I drop my purse at the door and kick my shoes off. I quickly grab my speaker from my room and turn on the Halloween playlist we made in our senior year of high school, "Also, I wanted to surprise you with these". I turn around from the box I'm in front of and see a little ceramic figurine of two ghosts.

"This might be the cutest thing I've ever seen in my entire life," I whisper as I stand up staring at it, "It's us," I smile.

"I was thinking more of you and Lando but also cute," she says with a laugh as I put it on the dresser in my bedroom. It looks perfect. She already has the decorative pillows on the couch and the blankets draped over the back. I go back to the box I was opening and see the dish towels, animated figures, and the key bowl that looks like a skeleton hand for the front table. This is the best part of any holiday is decorating the apartment. I'm excited to see how Lando celebrates the holiday. She pulls out a cape from when she went as Superwoman and puts it on. She slides the box over and I look through it finding bear ears. I put them on and grab a honey jar posing as she takes her phone out.

The front door opens and Max walks in making us both stand there in our costumes as he looks at us confused, "I feel like I'm interrupting something," he says as I put my hands on my hips.

"Don't tell me you don't like Halloween?" I ask as Kyla stands up looking at him disappointed.

"I don't really celebrate it anymore," he shrugs as I pick up the pumpkin pillow and throw it at his head. he catches it in his arms and looks at me shocked as I scold him.

"Halloween is the best holiday of the year and you've been missing out. That's it. This year we are celebrating and everyone is invited. Vegas is officially open for business again," I announce as he stands there stunned.

"If you can't tell she's very passionate about this topic," Kyla laughs as I shake my head disappointed in the world champion, "Wait, why are you here?" she asks.

"I was bored and Lando said you guys weren't doing anything today," He says.

"He makes us sound so fun. I also just got back from work so he's wrong," I point out. I slide a box over with my leg and he squats down to look inside, "You can help us decorate but only if you let me convince you why this is the best holiday," I tell him as he looks up at me contemplating it.

"I have nothing better to do so....sure convince me," he says as Kyla tells him I'm making a mistake. I giggle opening another box and grabbing everything out.

"Why don't you come to the race in Miami with us then?" He asks as he sits down biting into the pasta we made. I lean against the wall poking at the bowl as Kyla turns to me, "You could travel with one of the teams so it would be free. Then you can show me why fall in America is superior," he adds.

"But it wouldn't be the same in Miami. We would have to go to New York or Pennsylvania-type areas," I tell him.

"I still think going back to America would be fun. You could invite your siblings. I miss Dani," she says making me smile. Kyla would always help Dani with her math homework when we were growing up so they have a special bond. Christian always had a crush on her but I think that's passed by now...at least I hope so. I kind of did root for something to happen so we could be sisters for real.

"I don't even know if I have any more days off from work but I can check," I offer not wanting to shoot down the idea, "But to reintroduce Halloween to Max...I might have to make that sacrifice," I whisper dramatically.

"You're ridiculous," he laughs as Kyla goes onto YouTube to put something on for us to watch. She sees a clip from Max's stream and clicks on it making him groan in disgust, "I vote against this," he says waving his fork at the screen.

"I haven't watched these so now we have to," I tell him as Kyla turns it up much to his dismay.
