--Evelyn's POV--

Lando walks into my bedroom making me flinch as he looks at me with wide eyes and a giant smile, "When you said you hated living alone, I didn't think it was this bad," He laughs as I cover my face with the blanket. He lays on top of me making me groan as he puts all his weight on me.

"Get off of me you egg," I tell him as he giggles rolling off of me, "How was your day so far?" I ask as he pulls the blanket off my head and leans on his elbow. The clock behind his head shows it's only eleven in the morning. He has a look on his face that tells me something is wrong. I turn my body and reach up touching his curls as he leans into my hand, "What is it?" I ask.

"I went to my lawyer's office today and your father is threatening to release evidence that I was racing illegally," he says making me sit up. He looks like he regrets telling me as I stand up and start pacing the room.

"What does he want?" I ask putting my hand on my hips and he lays down on his back and looks at the ceiling, "He has to want something. He always wants something," I say with a bitter laugh.

"He wants to talk to you," he reveals, "But I don't want you near him. I'd rather lose my career than have you face your father like this". I open my closet and grab jeans and t-shirt out as I quickly pull my shirt off, "Eve, you're not going".

"Lando, you can't stop me. This is ridiculous. I'm not what he wants...there has to be something or someone else he wants" I state pulling my jeans on as he gets off the bed and blocks the door, "You just won your first race...I'm not letting him ruin your career because he's a greedy bastard that leaves his wife and four kids to continue gambling his life away. I always figured he was dead but no he's still ruining my life. God, I should have known," I scoff as Lando grabs my hands. I didn't realize they were shaking until I look down and see the worried look on his eyes. He slowly moves forward putting his hand on the back of my head as I rest my face against his chest.

"We will figure this out. I don't want you to worry about me," He whispers as I sob against him. My shoulders shaking as he holds onto me. His grip never lessening as he rests his lips against my hair.

"I have to go. You don't know what he's like and the sooner he is out of our lives the better," I tell him as he takes my face in his hands and wipes the tears off my cheeks.

"I'm going with you then"

"You can't be caught in public going to a prison or wherever he is being kept," I point out as he looks desperately in my eye to try and get me to stay, "God, I hate crying," I sniffle hiding my face as I grab my shoes and start putting them on.

"They sent me the information and where to go to meet him," he says. I know he doesn't want to tell me, but he has to. This is the only way. Every time I think we are close to ending this...something always pulls us back in.

When the door buzzes letting me in, I follow the officers as they direct me to where my father is waiting. His hands are cuffed to the table and the smirk on his face sends a sick feeling throughout my body. A lump forms in my throat as I sit in front of him, "Congratulations to your boyfriend," he says.

"Don't talk about him. Why am I here?" I ask putting on the brave face I failed to wear when I was with Lando. I'm normally better than that.

"Ah getting right to business something you've gotten from me," he says as I sit back folding my arms on my chest giving him nothing, "How is Diane? Still drinking her feelings away?" He asks.

I go to get up, but he tries to lift his hand only to get stopped by the cuffs, "You have five minutes before I walk out," I threaten.

"You're very brave for someone who doesn't have the upper hand," he states making me tighten my jaw as I lick my bottom lip, "He wasn't as careful as he thought he was when he was preparing for his races in the warehouses I own".

"I don't care what you think you have. Just tell me what you want so I can leave," I tell him leaning forward. I can see Lucy's eyes in his making it hard to continue yelling at him.

"I want something delivered to my partner," he says leaning forward speaking under his breath, "There is a car at the shipping docks full of information I need delivered to the warehouse we had our little family reunion," he says making it sound too simple.

"What exactly is in the car and why can't your people get it for you?" I ask.

"It's out of my jurisdiction. If any of my guys get caught walking near the docks, they will be taken care of," he says making me laugh. He sits back with a smile looking at me, "You have no idea what your boyfriend got himself into do you?" he asks. The amused look on my face slightly trembles making his smile darken, "I'll get a year or two max on these charges. That's a vacation for me but for your little friend. His entire life will be ruined before it an even start. Did he tell you about the parties and the deals he willingly made with me for more money?" He asks.

"I said don't talk about him"

"I would ask him before you get too comfortable risking your life to deliver this information for me," he says. He nods at the cop standing outside so I can't ask him anything longer. He coughs and drops a piece of paper on the table as he gets uncuffed. The cop drags him away as I shove the paper in my pocket and wait to leave. Once I'm in my car I unravel it seeing the address of the dock and the license plate number of the car I have to find.

What deals? What parties?
