Kabanata 06

Rosary

Monday came along, and my heart felt delighted. Just how the night changes, because I feel so stressed every time Monday comes, but it turns the table on. I feel so happy because I get to see him again.

I keep roaming my eyes over the crowd, trying to find my target prey. I woke up kaninang umaga to go out in our house to expect Obed would pass by, but I was so sad to know that he didn't come.

Now I am here on our campus, trying to find Obed. I turned my gaze to someone who called. My eyes widened when I saw Tan beside Ysa and Gab. He looks serious and dark in his stare. Napalunok ako habang tinitignan siya.

“Bee!” Ysa is waving at me, and Gab waves lightly with a smile on their faces. Except for the man beside them.

A part of my mind wanted to run and hug him, but there's a side of me that doesn't want to do it. I put down my books and ran to my best friend for a hug.

I envelope my arm to hug Tan so tight. I can feel his hesitation, but I didn't mind it. He hugged me, but not as tight as I used to.

“I miss you,” I said in pure emotion.

I heard him chuckle a bit. I bet his expression lightened up. Narinig ko rin ang pahapyaw sa dalawa.

“Sus, kapag si Tan talaga! Miss agad! ”Si Ysa.

Napabitaw ako sa yakap at tiningala si Tan. He is taller than me. I looked like a child missing her father, who has been far away. I pout my lips, and one tear is shed for no reason.

“I miss you, Bee,” he said, but I only sensed friendship with boundaries.

I smiled. “Don't do that again, you fool!”

“Do what?” he asked me innocently.

I punch his chest out of frustration.

“Shut up, Tan!” Napayuko ako.

“Hoy, we heard from Mashlee; you have been a crush!!”

Gab laughed while wiping some of my tears from my face. Tan, beside Ysa, just looked at me while smiling. It seems like he knows everything. I bet Mashlee told him about what happened on Obed's birthday.

“Nagdadalaga na ang ating bunso,” Gab teased me while trying to remove all the tears from my face.

“Well...” I feel so hesitant to tell them about Obed. Kilala ko kasi sila, I know their antics and very inappropriate behavior.

“Is that a boy from ABM? Hmm… Obed ha,” Ysa said in a suspicious tone.

I glared at her and cursed Mashlee in my head.

Tang ina mo, Mashlee!

I sigh in defeat; there's no turning back.

“Fine! Crush ko lang naman, Ysa.”

Gab laughed so loudly. Habang tinabihan si Tan. Tinapik tapik niya ang balikat habang napapailing. Tan laughed at him too.
