Kabanata 28
Sinner
Binaba ako ni Amare. Our eyes locked as we stared at each other. The crowd is still shouting, but for me it was indefinitely silent in between our gazes. He grinned from ear to ear as our bodies stuck together. Hindi niya pa rin akong binitawan. I couldn't stop but to smile at him.
“You did well, Amare...” I whispered.
Tumango siya. “Because of you… and God."
Him and his ways to insert God in every topic. I like it! I do like it!
“Thank you God!” I shouted.
He chuckled at me.
“Let's take a picture…” he said.
Iginaya niya ako papalapit kay Ysa. I saw that his team is cheering, but he seems very busy with another trophy. Amare and I did a lot of poses. We also did the back poses.
ACOSTA, 13.
Akala mo talaga na trophy niya si Bee,” Gab said while chewing his food.
Amare is eating silently beside me.
Gab laughed beside her.
Amare shook his head, but he still smiled. Masama na ang tingin ko sa kanila. Tumawa pa!
“Why are you smiling?” I said just enough for him to hear it.
Sinamantala ko iyon habang busy and dalawa sa pag uusap. He browses up and leans closer to me. Hindi niya ako hinarap kundi pa side way siyang lumapit.
“Hmm?”
Hindi niya ba ako narinig? He seems very clueless. Anyway, maybe I say it too slowly.
“Why are you laughing?” I said, a bit louder, but not in the way that they could hear it.
Kunot ang noo niya at ngumuso ang labi. He is looking at the ceiling as if he is confused about what I said. Doon pa lang siya lumingon sa akin.
The fracture of his eyes turns my limbs into a garden that blooms. It wasn't gloomy, but sunny. He is like an innocent puppy—those eyes that are innocent.
“What?” nagtataka niyang sinabi.
“Why are you so happy when they teased us?”
