In the carriage to the council*
The journey to the council was quite far but not as far as Katherine expected it to be.Alex got out of the carriage And Katherine did too ,she stared at the tall building, a lot of formally dressed individuals walked into the said building.
Katherine's POV*
Alex started to walk towards the building and I followed him walking behind him,"walk by my side" he said and I took quick steps walking next to him,it was hard to keep up with his strides .
We got into the building,it was dominated by vampires but there are also werewolves and that was it . I stared at the paintings on the wall it seemed to be paintings council heads ,i could feel eyes on me ,it brought back memories. I was the only human here...
Alex suddenly stopped causing me to stop too "ah~ Alexander,it is a pleasure to see you again" a young man said he looked about Alex's age or slightly older but you can never tell with vampires,he had deep red eyes.he is an attractive young man.He looked familiar...I frowned a bit as I stared up at him "Likewise,Mr Carmichael" Alex said not smiling like the man did .
' Carmichael..?' that name sounds familiar I thought and I then suddenly remembered . He is the one Isabella and her friends were talking about the first day I visited the Howard's mansion,I also saw him at the ball years ago.
"Please, just call me William " he said politely "No" Alex said and I almost apologized for his rude behavior ,the man seemed lost of words untill his eyes finally landed on me acknowledging my presence for the first time since this conversation started "oh.. who do we have here ?"he asked with a smile.
"Hello,I am Katherine" I said slowly as I shook the hand he held out "William Carmichael, pleasure to meet you" "likewise" I said with a small smile withdrawing my hand "have we met before?" He asked and I could feel Alex glaring at me " perhaps...I think-" I said only to be cut off by Alex "the exam is starting soon,we should leave" he said pulling my wrist as we walked away. I snatched my wrist for him even his grip tightened and I glared at him rubbing my wrist. He just stared at me and I looked away from him .
I noticed he pulled me into a room filled with lots of people,I assume to be candidates for the exam. I stood there as a man came in " pleasant afternoon, everyone" he said in a cheerful tone he got mumbles of replies "the exams will begin now, candidates should not bring any equipment to the exam and non-candidates should kindly stay behind,more information will be given once you move to the exam hall.best of luck to you all " he smiled and left
Murmurs filled the room,Alex and I moved out of the room into the hallway ,he turned to me "you sit here ,and do not speak to anyone no matter how nice they seem" he stared intently at me "are you listening?" He ask and I pursed my lip "of course" I replied he gave me a stare and turned to leave with the rest " good luck " I mumbled as he went out of sight .
I sat down wondering how long the exams will take...
Author's POV*
Alex moved with the rest of the candidates to the simulation room that was operated using magic. " Welcome candidates" a voice boomed in the large hall after everyone came in ."you must have heard about this exam ,it is a simulation,...you have to make it 'alive' through all 3 rounds of the game" the voice went quiet just for everyone to start talking.
"Although it is a simulation,any injury sustained during the exam are real to some extent,so, do be careful ,if you look at your left wrist ,you will spot three black lines ,this represents your "life", once you run out ,you will be removed from the simulation and disqualified from the exam..... Best of luck candidates" the voice faded and the room structure changed into a Forest setting.
Alex stared as people tried to form teams among themselves.he noticed something moving in the shrub...
Katherine's POV
I have been waiting for Alex to get back for quite a while it was evening already,I have seen lots of people exit the room that Alex and the others went into, their face was holding huge disappointment,i guessed that they did not qualify for the exams.
I am famished,I was sitting quietly observing the painting on the wall they seemed intricate but they look very mesmerizing ,"good evening" I heard and looked up to see a young man ,he had brown eyes, no long canine , normal skin...he seemed...human .
I gave a small nod looking away to avoid a conversation ," if I may ask,why are you sitting alone here? are you perchance waiting for someone?" He spoke and I shook my head not wanting to speak ,he had a confused look " i apologize for being too forward but I noticed you are human too,I have not met a human in a very long time " he dragged with a small smile, I finally looked at him
" you are human ?" I asked in confirmation and he nodded " you finally spoke" he said "I was just being careful" I chuckled nervously " ah~ I understand " he said "I am councilman Tyler" he said and I shook his hand with a tight smile, he jokingly raised a brow "what is your name milady?" He asked "my name is... Evelyn" I said without thinking.
"Such pretty name for a pretty Lady" he smiled and i smiled too ,he let go of my hand and looked at his pocket watch" I must leave now,it was a pleasure to meet you" "likewise" i said he bowed a bit and left and i watched him leave .' if Alex could learn from him' i shook my head.
I waited sometime more ,I was almost dozing off when I heard " kitten" I frowned at the nickname as I stared at Alex " it is time to head back " he said and I got up staggering back a little as I let out a small yawn, nobody else was moving out I wondered if he got disqualified."come on" he said and I followed him outside,we exited the building and got into the carriage.
After a while of silence I spoke " how was your exam?" I asked "it was alright" he said " it is okay ,if you did not qualify you can always try again" I said and he stared at me like I said something crazy " I did not get disqualified" he said " then why did you leave early?" I asked "the exam ended,the rest stayed behind to treat their injuries or poison that might have seeped into them" he said " I did not sustain any injury" he added.
"Oh..." I said,why did I even think he was disqualified, what type of exam was it that caused people to get injuries.
The entire ride back home was quiet.we got home and I finally ate. Lady Uriel scolded Alex for starving me I enjoyed every moment of it .
We went to bed shortly after that ..
