Chapter 4

The group stopped in their tracks upon seeing Camila. Lauren couldn't believe what she was seeing. The sound of machines rang throughout the room. Camila's small figure looked as though it were being engulfed by the bed. The oxygen mask covered most of the brunette's face, and the wrap around her head was occupying her left side. Ally was the first to speak, moving to sit in the visiting chair.

"Oh my gosh Mila.."

The other girls followed and gathered around the bed, pulling up more chairs. Lauren still stood by the door staring down Camila.

"Laur?" Dinah looked up from Camila, tears stinging at her eyes. "Come here." She motioned towards her side.

Lauren looked between Camila and Dinah before shaking her head.

"Lo?" The tear fell down her cheek as Lauren turned on her heels and left the room. She thought that she could her Dinah call out for her but she didn't stop, she couldn't. The sight of Camila was too much for her to bare. Lauren had made her way out of the hospital and was now sitting in her car.

Is this really happening right now? She thought. No, Camila cant be dying. Lauren balled her hands into fists as the first tear fell onto her lap.

"No." She whispered. "No." Lauren slammed her fists on top of the steering wheel. "No, no, no!" With every word she hit the wheel harder, letting all her emotions come full force. The flood of tears rolled down her face as she whimpered to herself. The thoughts of Camila dying ran through her head. She jumped at the sound of the window being knocked on. She looked up to see Dinah giving her a supportive smile.

"What do you want." Said Lauren wiping at her eyes."I wanna talk." Said Dinah thought the glass.

"No. I just.. I just wanna be alone." Said Lauren.

"Lo please. Just talk to me." Dinah insisted.

"I just. I don't understand." Lauren looked up her face red and soaked with tears. "I saw her not to long ago. She was in my arms, she was fine. Dinah Camila was fine." Her voice was caught in the back of her throat.

"I.." Dinah started, but stopped, trying to think of what to say.

"You what." Said Lauren stepping out of her car, nearly hitting Dinah with the door.

"I'm sorry Lo. I really am. If I could change what happened I would. But I truly believe that something good is gonna come out of this."

"How." Lauren chuckled at that statement. "How is something good gonna come outta Camila laying in the bed." Dinah looked into Lauren's eyes tears stinging at hers.

"I don't know Lauren. We just have to have hope." She looked at the brunette sympathy in her eyes. Lauren knew she had the believe that everything would work out. That's all she could do was hope for the best.

"I know it's gonna be hard." Dinah started when she saw Lauren not replying. "But the best thing to do right now is go in to that hospital and support Mila." Lauren looked up and bit her lip as another tear trailed down her face.

"Hey." Dinah wiped at the tear and gave Lauren a small smile. "It's gonna be okay."

The two girls made their way back to the hospital room and stopped outside of the door.

"Wait." Lauren said in a hushed voice.

"Yeah?" Said Dinah looking down at the other girl. Lauren reached out and grabbed Dinah's hand, she could feel her shaking.

"Alright I'm ready." And together they both walked in.

"Lauren, I'm so glad you're back." Said Sinu rushing over to Lauren and pulling her into a hug.

"Thanks.." Said Lauren as her eyes went from Sinu to Camila. Dinah walked back over to her seat and sat down patting beside her.

"Come sit." Lauren closed her eyes and took a deep breath before making her way to sit.

"Now that everyone is here I'm gonna go get something from the cafeteria." Said Sinu. "Anyone need anything?"

"Yeah I could go for something." Replied Ally.

"Yeah me too." Said Normani.

"How about-"

"We're fine Mrs. Cabello." Interrupted Dinah as she looked at Lauren seeing her eyes fixed on Camila.

"Right well girls come with me and we'll head down there." Said Sinu gesturing out the door. The two girls got up and looked back to get one more glance at Camila. After a couple minutes passed Dinah spoke up.

"Hey Chancho." Lauren looked up to see Dinah holding Camila's hand. "Look we kinda have a party going on for you over here.." She sniffed. "So you might wanna get up and dance with us. Even though your dance moves aren't the best."

Lauren giggled while she listened to the one-sided conversation.

"I miss watching you try to twerk it out." Dinah laughed and wiped at her eyes. "Look I even have your favorite person here!" Dinah flicked her thumb back at Lauren and turned around. "And your second favorite." She laughed and looked at Camila. Dinah got up and looked at Lauren. "I'll be back I have to used the restroom." She turned on her heels and walked out of the room.

Lauren sat in her chair and watched as Camila's chest slowly rose and went back down as she slept. She couldn't help but notice how at ease her girlfriend looked. Lauren got up and took Dinah's seat. She took in all her features, even under horrible circumstances Camila was still the most beautiful girl Lauren has ever seen.

"Hey Camz." She could barely get out a word before her voice caught the back of her throat. "I'm not sure how to do this. Usually you're the one doing all the talking." Said Lauren a tear falling down her cheek. "So here goes nothing." She took a deep breath and grabbed Camila's hand, playing with her flingers as she spoke.

"You have to stay in there Camz. Fight hard. No matter what you just have to fight." She sniffed. "You have people out here that need you. Your parents, Sofi, Ally, Dinah, Mani and me." She paused. "Camz you're probably gonna think I'm crazy for saying this but you look so beautiful." Lauren smiled and looked down at their hands. "Remember when we were on that date. You know, the one after my game?" She smiled at the memory. "Well we sat there and I complained about my bruises and you looked at me. Remember what you told me?" She wiped at her eyes. "You told me that bruises make up for good stories." She sniffed again and a tear fell onto their hands. "Well so do scars Camz. And I know I'd love to hear your story. But you have to stay in there, fight. Open your eyes. Your beautiful eyes that I've been longing to see.. Please." Lauren finished tears streaming down her face.

"Wow." Said a voice which pulled Lauren out of her thoughts. She looked up to see all the girls standing in the door way. "Sorry I was just-"

"That was beautiful Lauren." Said Dinah.

Lauren stood up and wiped at her eyes returning to her own seat. While the other girls settled back into the room, Lauren slipped into her thoughts.
