The next day Lauren arrived at school to find Ally and Normani waiting by her locker.
"Hey guys where's Dinah?" She unlocked her locker and took some books out.
"We were hoping that you knew." Said Normani.
"She's been ignoring us all morning." Added Ally
"Weird, and Camila where's she?" Lauren pulled her phone out to text Dinah,
"We haven't seen her either." Said Ally.
"Dinah left me on read." Lauren put her phone away as the bell rang. "Text me if anything changes okay?" She pulled the two girls into a hug, "Love you guys."
The bell rang for school to end Lauren headed to the locker room to change. Upon getting to to the field she noticed that she left her glove in the locker room.
"Shit."
"What?" Casey popped some sunflowers into her mouth.
"I forgot my glove."
"Wanna use one of mine?"
"Do you have any right handed ones?" Lauren rose her eyebrows.
"Oh yeah." Casey laughed, "I'll tell coach that you're with a teacher so you don't get in trouble."
"Thanks, I'll be right back." Lauren sprinted back into the school and got to the locker room only to find that it had already been locked up.
"Fuck." She whispered and looked around pending on what to do.
The sound of sobs came from around the corner making Lauren curious. She walked around to find Camila sitting on the ground with her arms wrapped around her legs and her head down. Lauren's heart dropped at the sight, she knelt down.
"Hey is everything okay?"
Camila stopped crying at the realization that someone was in front of her. Lauren bit her lip trying to think of what to say.
"Would you like to talk about it?"
The young girl lifted her head and looked around to avoid eye contact. Her makeup was running and her hair was messy. Lauren's breath caught her throat, she hadn't been this close to Camila in a while, and now she could take in all of her features.
"Go away." Her voice was raspy, Lauren could hear her pain, she set her head back onto her knees.
Lauren bit her lip and thought, sighing she sat down next to the brunette, fiddling with her fingers as she looked around.
Camila looked up and glanced at the emerald eyed girl, "What are you doing?"
"You know it's funny how life works," started Lauren, avoiding Camila's question, "One day everything is fine and the next it just.." She met the brown orbs and smiled.
"I'm Lauren by the way," She reached over and wiped a tear off the young girl's chin. "Do you wanna tell me why it is that a pretty girl like you is crying?"
"No. I said go away." Camila turned away and wiped her face.
"I'm not leaving." Lauren protested.
Camila furrowed her eyebrows and throw her hands up, "Why do you even care?"
"You'd be surprised," Lauren sighed, "You can trust me."
The brown eyed girl looked over to Lauren in thought. Could she really trust this stranger? She sighed and ran her hand through her hair.
"It's hard.. Music has always been my muse." Lauren smirked, she always loved how Camila was into music. She started writing and playing because of her.
"I lost my memory," Camila laughed and rubbed at her temple. Lauren noticed the scar, making her heart skip a beat.
"I can't remember half of my life, it comes and goes." She took a deep breath and shook her head. "The piano, it's my favorite instrument. But due to my accident," she rubbed her forearm, "I can't play anymore. The coordination just don't work."
Lauren sighed and bit her lip before getting up, "Come on," she put her hand out. Camila wiped her eyes and looked up in confusion.
"What?"
"Trust me." Lauren smiled and Camila took her hand and got up. She lead her into the music room, walked over to the piano, and sat down. "Are you gonna sit?" She looked at Camila and patted the seat.
The younger girl sat down and bit her lip, "You play?"
"Just a bit, one of my friends taught me a long time ago. So I might be a little rusty." Lauren explained making Camila giggle, that sound made Lauren's stomach jump.
"Do you.. Know any songs?" Camila asked slowly.
Lauren looked at her in thought before she turned and placed her hands on the white keys. As soon as she started to play Camila's face light up. It was one of Lauren's favorite songs, she had learned it the first time she had every played. She opened her mouth to sing letting her raspy voice fill the room.
"Some people live for the fortune,
Some people live just for the fame.
Some people live for the power, yeah
Some people live just to play the game"
Camila watched as Lauren gave a flawless performance of the Alicia Keys song. Her hands moving swiftly across the instrument as she hit every vocal perfectly.
"Nothing in this whole wide world don't mean a thing, if I ain't got you with me baby."
Lauren finished the last note and looked over to Camila, smiling.
"Wow." Camila spoke, "You have a beautiful voice."
"Thanks," said Lauren as her cheeks flushed, "Your turn." Camila's eyes widened.
"Oh no I'm not singing." She shook her head as Lauren laughed.
"No I mean, play." The younger girl's smile faded.
"Lauren I can't." She rubbed at the scar on her arm.
"Don't worry about this." She nodded towards Camila's arm, "Just take it note by note. And if you get it wrong just start over." Lauren smiled into the brown orbs, "See Camila, music is so much like life," she placed Camila's hand on the white keys, "You go through a piece of music like you do life, step by step, note by note." She pressed the brunette's finger down, making the room ring with sound. "Now, pick a song."
