As the night wore on and the game concluded, Elizabeth, along with Bella and Richard, was noticeably drunk, her movements slightly unsteady and her speech a bit slurred.
Ann, ever watchful and caring, observed Elizabeth with growing concern. She could see the glazed look in Elizabeth's eyes and the way she leaned a bit too heavily against a nearby log. Her heart twinged with worry for Elizabeth's well-being.
Sitting beside Elizabeth, Ann gently suggested, "I think it's time we call it a night, everyone. We've had our fun, but now it's time to rest."
Elizabeth, hearing Ann's words, tried to protest weakly, her words slightly slurred. "But I'm fine, Ann, really. We can... we can keep playing." Her attempt to appear sober was unconvincing.
Ann, with a tender smile, shook her head. "No, Beth, you need to rest. You've had enough for tonight." There was no room for argument in Ann's tone.
Her concern for Elizabeth grew as she noticed her grip on the cup, her speech slurring slightly with each word. Gently, Ann reached out to take the cup from Elizabeth's hand, sensing it was time to wind down.
"No more drinks for tonight, Beth," Ann said softly, trying to coax the cup away. But Elizabeth, in her tipsy state, playfully pulled back, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"Just one more, Ann, please?" Elizabeth pleaded, her words dragging a little. "It's fun, isn't it?"
Ann, with a patient smile, remained firm. "You've had enough, Beth. It's time to rest now," she insisted, finally managing to gently pry the cup from Elizabeth's grasp.
Elizabeth, feeling a mix of disappointment and amusement, looked up at Ann with a pout. "You're no fun, Ann," she complained, her words tinged with a drunken playfulness.
Ann couldn't help but chuckle at Elizabeth's childlike demeanor. "I'll be all the fun you need tomorrow when you're sober," she replied.
The group started to disperse, some heading to their tents, while others lingered a bit longer, finishing their drinks.
Ann turned her full attention to Elizabeth, helping her to stand up. Elizabeth leaned heavily against Ann; her steps unsteady. Ann wrapped an arm around Elizabeth's waist, steadying her, a look of affectionate concern etched on her face.

In the cozy confines of the tent, Ann gently guided stumbling Elizabeth to lie down. The soft glow from a lantern cast a warm light over the scene, highlighting Elizabeth's flushed cheeks and bright, tipsy eyes.
"Okay, Beth, time to get some rest," Ann said with a soft chuckle, helping Elizabeth onto the sleeping bag. Elizabeth, however, flopped down with a dramatic sigh, making a show of her reluctance.
"But the night is still young, Ann!" Elizabeth protested playfully.
Ann, smiling affectionately at Elizabeth's antics, knelt down to remove her shoes. "The night might be young, but we aren't. We need our beauty sleep," she teased, carefully slipping off each shoe.
Elizabeth giggled at Ann's comment, her laughter light and carefree. "Are you calling us old, Ann?" she asked, a twinkle of humor in her eyes despite her drunken state.
"No, just wisely mature," Ann replied with a grin, setting the shoes aside. She then sat beside Elizabeth, watching her with a mix of amusement and tenderness. Elizabeth's usual composed demeanor had given way to a more uninhibited, playful side, and Ann found it endearingly charming.
As Elizabeth lay back, her movements slightly clumsy, she looked up at Ann with a childlike innocence. "You're really nice, Ann. Do you know that?" she said, her voice soft and sincere.
