In the heart of Berlin, sat a quaint coffee shop that had become Ann's refuge. The steam from her coffee fogged up the window, creating a canvas where the bustling streets turned into a blur of colors and sounds. Across from her sat Lucas, her personal assistant and a friend. His features animated as he discussed their latest business venture.
"I think it's not just about profits, Ann. It's about setting a standard," Lucas was saying, his hands expressive, his gaze occasionally lingering longer on Ann than necessary.
Ann nodded, her mind half on the figures and half lost in a sea of memories that seemed to rise with the steam of her coffee. "I agree. We need to be mindful of the impact we have," she replied.
Lucas watched her, a frown creasing his brow. "You've been distant today. More than usual," he commented, leaning back in his chair. His concern was genuine, tinged with a hint of deeper, unspoken emotions.
Ann sighed, looking out the window. "Just thinking about..." Her voice trailed off, the ghosts of her past too present to ignore.
"Hey, you zoned out on me there. Everything alright?" Lucas' voice was tinged with concern as he resumed his seat.
"Just the usual ghosts," Ann replied, forcing a smile. "Don't worry, Lucas."
He nodded, though his expression remained thoughtful. "You know, if you ever want to talk about those ghosts... I'm here. No pressure."
Ann appreciated his gentle approach, the unspoken support that said he was there for her, no matter what. But she wasn't ready to unpack her heart, not yet, maybe not ever.
Lucas glanced at his watch, then back at Ann. "Isn't Richard coming to Germany soon? You two have a lot planned, right?"
Ann's face lit up at the mention of her brother. "Yes, he's arriving next week. It's been a whole year since I've seen him," she admitted, her voice tinged with excitement and anticipation.
"He must be excited too," Lucas noted, sipping his coffee. "Especially with all the business developments."
"Definitely. We're meeting with Mr. Weber together," Ann said, her mind shifting to the strategic aspects of their plans. "And Richard mentioned something about Mr. Hoffman moving to Germany for a few months. He wants to explore collaboration opportunities, which could be significant for us."
Lucas raised his eyebrows, impressed. "Hoffman, huh? His insights are incredibly valuable. That could be a game-changer for us."
"Exactly," Ann agreed, "His approach is what we need right now, and he's a trustworthy partner. If we play our cards right, this could lead to some significant advancements for our projects."
Ann looked out the window, her thoughts momentarily wandering. 'Seeing Richard will be like bringing a piece of home here,' she mused internally. 'And working with Hoffman... that's the kind of move that could really put our efforts on the map.'
Lucas nodded. "You've got my full support, Ann. I'll always be here for you."
Ann smiled, grateful for Lucas's support and camaraderie. "Thanks, Lucas. It's good to know I have you on my side."
With a nod of solidarity, they left the coffee shop, the cool Berlin air greeting them. Ann felt a mix of nerves and excitement as she considered the convergence of her past and her future, ready to face whatever challenges and opportunities lay ahead.

The Berlin Airport was bustling with the constant hum of arrivals and departures. Ann stood next to Lucas, her eyes scanning the stream of passengers emerging from the arrival gate. Her heart raced with anticipation — it had been over a year since she had last seen Richard in person when she moved to Germany.
