Alex knew Brooklyn was exhausted from the intense preparation for her upcoming tour and the demands of her job. She wanted to offer her something special, a moment just for her, something that would take her away from the daily hustle and bustle and fill her with love. So she planned a romantic dinner at their apartment, hoping to surprise her and give her a space of calm.
But when Brooklyn arrived earlier than expected, Alex's plan was almost ruined. The stress of the surprise invaded her for a moment, but she quickly recovered, improvised and kept the detail she had prepared with so much love a secret.
The dinner went wonderfully. Alex had cooked all of Brooklyn's favorite dishes and had decorated the place with soft candles and rose petals scattered throughout the room, creating a magical atmosphere. After a delicious night, Alex invited her to open a small package she had carefully prepared, tied with a red bow.
Brooklyn undid the package with a curious smile and discovered a delicate necklace, with a heart-shaped pendant. Looking closer, she saw that it had Alex's initial engraved on it. Her eyes filled with emotion.
"It's beautiful..." Brooklyn murmured, touching the necklace tenderly, as if it were a treasure.
Alex, with a soft smile, approached her and, very carefully, placed the necklace around her neck.
"It's not for you to think that you belong to me..." Alex said, her voice full of affection and sincerity. "It's a reminder that I know you, that I know who you really are, beyond what others say. And if you're ever away, or I am, I want you to have something that reminds you that I'll always be here for you."
Alex's words were a warm hug to Brooklyn's soul. In that instant, all of Brooklyn's tiredness and stress vanished, replaced by a deep feeling of love and connection. It was a love that not only cared for her, but understood her, respected her, and accepted her just the way she was.

August 2016
Brooklyn absentmindedly brushed her teeth, mentally reviewing the day's itinerary Alex had planned for her. Blue played at her feet, offering wordless comfort. As she looked in the mirror, one detail made her pause: something was missing.
The necklace
Her heart skipped a beat and her mind began to race as she frantically searched around the sink. It wasn't in the bathroom. Panic gripped her. The search quickly spread through the bedroom, the living room, and even the kitchen, but the collar, Alex's meaningful gift, was nowhere to be found.
Desperate, Brooklyn knelt beside Blue, seeking comfort in his loyal eyes.
"I've lost it, Blue..." she whispered, her voice breaking, her anxiety palpable. "I've lost the collar Alex gave me."
Blue looked at her with a sweetness that seemed to understand his owner's anguish. Brooklyn took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, before deciding to retrace her steps. She knew she had to find it. It wasn't just a necklace, it was a symbol of the special connection she shared with Alex.
Hours passed and the search was still fruitless. Brooklyn's anguish grew with every corner she searched without success. The necklace represented much more than a simple gift; it was a constant reminder of Alex's love and commitment, something she didn't want to lose.
