March 27/28, 2017

It was early in the morning, and the sun was just beginning to filter through the wide windows of Brooklyn and Alex's Tribeca apartment. The golden light illuminated the modern, open space, which was decorated with a mix of contemporary art and personal touches that reflected their unique tastes.

Alex, dressed in a comfortable tracksuit, was in the kitchen, making tea, coffee, and some toast. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, mingling with the soft sound of a jazz playlist playing in the background. Brooklyn, her hair pulled back in a carefree bun and dressed in a soft wool sweater, was sitting on one of the high stools by the kitchen island, a stack of papers spread out in front of her. Among the documents was the guest list for her wedding.

With a pen in her hand, Brooklyn was going through the list, crossing off a few names and making notes in the margins. "How's the guest list going?" Alex asked, as she watched Brooklyn.

Brooklyn looked up from the papers, displaying a mix of exasperation and amusement. "Well, it seems like everyone is finding creative ways to make the list longer. The latest update is that several of your fellow national team members are bringing along dates."

"Who, exactly?"Alex asked as she poured the tea and coffee, curious to know which of her friends from the national team would be bringing a special someone.

"Well, Megan said she's coming with her partner, and Kel also confirmed that she's bringing someone." Brooklyn replied, noting with a smile. "Also, several people from my team have also confirmed that they're coming with dates."

Alex nodded, carrying the cups and plate of toast to the island and sitting next to Brooklyn. "That means we need to adjust the seating a bit and maybe consider a couple of extra tables."

Brooklyn sighed and nodded, looking at the list with a mix of excitement and concern. "Yeah, and we also need to make sure everyone has a comfortable spot. I want everything to be perfect."

"What else do you have there?" Alex asked, pointing with her free hand at some papers with scattered scribbles and notes.

Brooklyn turned around and saw Alex flipping through some of the documents. Amidst the papers, between the guest lists and the wedding plan notes, were also some sheets of handwritten song lyrics.

"Hey!" Brooklyn exclaimed, surprised to see Alex looking at the papers. "Those aren't for your eyes yet."

Alex raised an eyebrow, amused by Brooklyn's reaction. "Oh, no? And what are those secret papers?"

Brooklyn moved a little closer, making as if to snatch the papers from her, but stopped halfway, smiling. "They're new lyrics to songs I've been working on. I'm saving them for my next album, and I'm not ready to show anything yet."

Alex laughed, shaking her head. "Are you trying to keep your artist secrets? I didn't know you had such a mysterious side."

Brooklyn, playing with the idea, lightly tapped Alex on the shoulder. "Yeah, and besides, it's more fun to keep the mystery. I don't want you to see the songs before they're ready. But, if you keep snooping, I might start thinking about writing a song about a curious girl."

Alex gave her a playful look, moving the lyric paper to the side. "Really? I think it would be an interesting song. But if it's about me, I hope it's a song with a good story."

Brooklyn smiled, relieved to see that Alex was in a good mood. "Oh, it will be a good story, I promise. But for now, let me focus on these preparations."
