Hanging on waves

"You probably haven't returned home because of what I did to you in your sober state. Not gonna explain myself, I'm just very sorry. Please talk to me."

That was a message from Ted. I was comfortably seated at the dining area enjoying my breakfast, simultaneously scrolling through my phone when I came across it. I was initially annoyed by Ted's actions but now, nothing in me was holding on to it.

"I really hate you for that and you'll have to compensate me. Not mad at you though." I sent the response without much pondering.

I hadn't had much time to think through and worry about my experience with Ted that night. I could barely remember what exactly happened. With the numerous events unfolding I couldn't even consider it that much. I still wondered why Jaime left me at the place that night. His reason wasn't clear enough to me but I just assumed he was trying to make things seem less extreme.

Another text from Ted came in but the phone displayed and vibrated a FaceTime from Jaime right before I could check.

Joan had left to get some stuff and so I was the only one in the chalet so I was relieved when Jaime contacted.

"Grandee, are you fine, my love? He let out immediately when I picked up. It seemed he was in the middle of something. The sleeves of his shirt were folded back. His table was a bit messy and he set somethings in place while he spoke looking gorgeous and cool.
"Silent?" He asked when he realized I was just staring at him and smiling quietly.

"I'm having breakfast, see." I said I as I rose the whole tray of breakfast containing a cup of rice pudding and a plate of bread slices with avocado to show him. He smiled with relief. "Don't eat too much else I can't raise you in my arms." He joked. I frowned in an attempt to hide my blushing.

"When are you returning?" I asked. "My baby missing me already huh! Will be back right after sunset." He sneered a reply.

I sighed and bit my lips lightly. "You might as well have to consider my request." I pleaded. "Alright baby, I'll be calling from time to time to check on you. Stay good for me."
Jaime uttered. "Alright, love you. Stay safe too." I let out and with that he hung up.

I felt pleased by all Jaime's protective efforts and smiled in my seat. Since I was alone with nothing to do, I went through my texts. I realized I had an unread message from Jaime in my mail. "Stay right there baby, I'd be back for you." It read. It was on the day wished he left me at the restaurant. "Who sends such a message through mail." I thought to myself and sighed. Well, I barely checked my mail and I felt a little guilty for thinking ill of him after that incident.

I decided to call my mum and check up on her but she was unable to pick up. "She might be busy with work by now." I thought. I went ahead to call on my sister, Rheana.

In a minute, she was on the line. "Hi sister!" I extended.
"Hey Grandee!" She replied cheerfully. "Oops! Mum said she had deposited an amount into your account so I failed to send mine." She explained before I could speak. "Oh no!" I came in. "I've been very fine. Yes she did send it and that's enough for now." I confirmed.

"I have been seeing a lot lately and I genuinely wish to share with you since you are family but I do not know your take on certain issues so I've been more conserved to save myself your probable laid back reactions." I revealed. "Oh now you're making me nervous." Rheana said at a high tone. "You don't need to hide anything from me." She assured.

"Okay, promise me you're going to stay silent until I'm done." I demanded. I was very anxious already and I knew her uncensored exclaims were just going to back me off from unveiling things to her. I would never have told her any sooner but my whole existence was on the line so I had no choice. Plus Rheana was a very competent lawyer doing extremely well in her field so she could pretty well play a role or two.

She assured me her compliance.

"I am at a comfortable location at the moment but I feel extremely tensed because I have no idea the address of this place." Rheana interrupted with a loud gasp. "I'm fine, I'm fine." I said, trying to reduce the tension.

"Apparently, I'm being protected from the mother of my lover because she has expressed absolute disinterest in our bond and is willing murder me to have her son in line with her preferences."

I was briefly quiet. I expected her to react to "son" but she seemed indifferent so I proceeded with relief.

"Jaime, that's my lover's name. He's 3 years older and he won't tell me a lot because he thinks it'll make me panic. Well, they're super rich and his mum is bitter so I won't underestimate her murderous competences.
The prime reason behind all this is that she's expecting grandchildren from her first son, Jaime but here I am in the picture, shattering all her hopes."

"Done?" Rheana asked. "Yes." I replied.

"You're getting out of that shitty life threatening relationship or whatever as soon as possible. Are you that desperate? Because he is super rich? Mum and I give you the world so what else do you require? Tell me Grandee... all at what cost? That we get deprived of your life and normal existence? Shut it down!" It all turned into cold scolding. I could feel the pain in her voice. And the fact that she had to hold it all in until I was done speaking made it worse.

"I'm on my way to Isroch city right now and I'll get you safe soon with the poli..." "No no no!" I interrupted. "As I already said, I'm perfectly fine." "No you're not!" Rheana opposed.

I sighed loudly.
Joan entered suddenly. "Good afternoon little Sir." I nodded in response and slowly moved upstairs to continue my conversation privately.

"I can count seven strong armed security men guarding the chalet and I can only imagine how many surround the walls. Jaime is doing his best to protect me." I declared.
"Oh he is? When the best he can do is leave your immature ass." I felt hurt by Rheana's words but quickly shoved them off.

"I'm pleading with you to bear with me. All I want you to do is to communicate with Jaime. He's definitely going to give you the details of the matter because you're "mature" and so it'll be easy to handle. Please don't go behind Jaime and most importantly, don't tell mum about this." I pleaded

Rheana sighed loudly. "Grandee, I know nothing is going to happen to you. I'm going to try my best here to get you out of your trauma okay." She assured.

"Now, forward to me Jaime's contact details and be safe for me." Rheana ended the call with that.

As I hoped my sister does not overreact with pain and maybe tell my mum, I thought through a lot. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to meet Jaime's mum. It was a stubborn will that refused to leave. I wondered through all the repercussions and possibilities trying to figure out my way out of the traumatic, tensed condition.
