"I am Mr. Ray hired by Mr. Moore to ensure your safety." He introduced. With my hand on my chest, I heaved a sigh of relief.
It was after the first lecture and Mr. Ray was not losing sight of me. He stood at the corners and edges of the walls and occasionally moved when I was getting out of sight.
"Is that your stalker or something?" Leo asked as he joined Suzzy and I in our stance.
Suzzy, who had now realized Mr. Ray's presence from the distance gasped, giving me a questioning look.
"He's my personal security personnel." I said.
I excused myself quickly before they could ask anymore questions, moving towards Mr. Ray.
"Did Mr. Moore give you the details?" I calmly asked the older man who had leaned on the column. "He made known to me whatever is significant to keep you protected." He answered briefly."Alright, could you pleased escort me somewhere?" I requested. "It's my job." He asserted.
Thankfully, I was not unfamiliar to the guards at the gate so we were easily let in without having to convince. Mr. Ray had removed his black beanie and looked a lot more normal by now. As we went in, things started to get tense and I could tell Mrs. Moore had already noticed our presence from the almost concealed cameras around.
I was taken back to when I first entered the house with Jaime next to me. The nostalgia started to get overwhelming so I shook my head to snap out of it.
At the huge door that led into the house, I demanded that Mr. Ray stays behind. "I'll quickly drop a signal if I need help." He was hard to convince but he eventually gave in."Who do we have here?" Asked the older woman who didn't bother to avert her gaze at me. She stood before a large table accessing what I assumed was a color chart for fashion accessories.
"Can you help me pick out three shades out of this lot?" Mrs. Moore requested. "I'd be glad to." I responded almost immediately as I moved next to her pretending to access the colors with interest.
"It would be best to display what's within you. I'd more appropriately pick out obsidian black, beige and mocha brown." I suggested with accentuated politeness and a huge smile. "What do they denote?" She asked looking more interested. "Black may represent evil, beige as well as mocha may indicate dead life... but what's necessary is the ability to bring light to these. You see, we as humans are more prominent when we bring life to the dull. Unfortunately, not all human possess this, they rather introduce darkness to light" I voiced out, still smiling.
"Interesting!" She asserted, nodding, obviously noticing what I was driving at."I really did expect you here. Someone like you definitely wouldn't submit to Jaime's concealing duty." She uttered.
"It is more of concern to me why you choose to approach the devil Jaime is trying so hard to get you away from." Mrs. Moore disclosed.
I smiled moving away to the kitchen to grab myself a glass of water. Mrs Moore laughed slightly at this."I pondered the devil is only a devil because she's assumed to be. Well, devils are not fully devils around people they have potential to gain from so..." I let out.
"What could I possibly gain from you, little one? Tell me what?" With a wicked laugh Mrs. Moore asked, possibly, expecting a timid answer.I leaned on the counter and watched her closely.
"I am the only one standing between you and your beloved eldest son. Must you not take into consideration what I come up with every time the clock ticks." I maintained my broad smile and courtesy throughout.
"Grandee Riveré Ross, about a week ago I couldn't get your name off my lips. I see you can tell I already know a lot about you." I paid attention to her as she spoke, standing behind the counter like I owned the house.
"Well, I knew Jaime wouldn't go in for scruffy, dense being... I bargained on the right side." Mrs Moore expressed."I am flattered...mother!" She flinched a little at my last word which I mentioned clearly.
"You know what, I will not let even a micro fraction of all that I have built collapse because of your vexatious love story. You mentioned I should consider what you do to affect my relationship with Jaime but what if you're no more hmm? Don't forget why you're on a run already my dear." She let out with a low but piercing tone as she moved closer and passed her thumb slowly on my cheek. She was exactly my height, if not just a little bit taller and her gaze was definitely intimidating.
"I'll get going now. I guess I'll have to take care of myself extra now because the slightest scratch on my skin will be, without much thought, laid on you. We both know what that'll cost you." I got up to leave.
"Tell me; when was the last time you talked to your son?" I swiftly turned and asked rhetorically.
"Goodbye, mother!""I'd love to see you often." Mrs Moore said out loudly before I was out through the door.
Out through the huge gates, we were to approach Mr. Ray's car to return to the school. Just then, Jaime's truck stopped right before the gate. My heart started pounding. Since Jaime's mum and dad had returned from their vacation, he hadn't been to the house so I hadn't expected him around at all.
Jaime got out of the car with a very serious look. He looked around momentarily and finally averted his gaze towards me. He started to look more angry than disappointed.
I started shaking in my stance and he moved towards me with rage. With bloodshot eyes, he grabbed my neck and took me back till I was banged on the huge black metal gate. "Uhhh" I cried with pain and my neck hurt so bad from his hard grasp."Why do you do this to me?" Jaime looked so dangerous and panic was written all over my face. He momentarily let go and sighed loudly. He impulsively moved over to hug me. I tried my best to prevent my tears from flowing but they eventually did. I could tell I he felt let down because I had submitted myself fully to potential danger but what was more important, I was fine.
I watched as Jaime spoke to Mr. Ray through the windscreen of Mr. Ray's car. I could tell Jaime was very angry but I didn't regret my decision. Meeting Jaime's mom really calmed my nerves and dismissed almost every fear because I never even thought I could face her.
Mr. Ray entered the car. "Are you okay?" He asked. I nodded.
Jaime did not take a single gaze at me as we drove pass him. My stomach started to sink and I felt a little bit dizzy."That was it." I thought to myself. "The vulnerability that comes with love!"
