3rd POV

During the night, as the three moons rose in the sky, their gleaming light illuminated the dark forest below. Freya, who is still sleeping, has her body comfortably tucked within the soft makeshift mattress, experiencing the best sleep despite being confined by Lucas.

This doesn't prevent Freya from getting the rest she needs. She needed this to prepare for her escape!

As Freya slept deeply and comfortably, a large figure loomed behind her. The shallow light from the reflection of the moons cast her into the shadows once he appeared. Its silver eyes gleamed in the night, and his hoarse breath panted for air.

His green hair, which extended down to his shoulders, was overgrown and messy. His torso was wrapped in bandages to cover the deep wound behind his shoulder. Once he soon leaned his body closer watching the sleeping Freya, the reflection of the light revealed it to be Lucas.

"Freya~" he said quietly.

His silver eyes gleamed with pure lust as the beastman observed his precious wife asleep, sending tingles down his body. Every night, he watched her sleep, unable to shake off the feeling of anxiety in his heart, fearing she might disappear one day. Even in their second life together, he was determined to stay by her side, not wanting to be left alone again.

"Please, don't leave me again, not anymore-" Lucas whispered before tears dripped down his cheeks.

Lucas recalled the long and dreadful torture of the past after his family's death. The impact of their deaths had left him in endless mourning and regret.

The loss of his family had left Lucas broken. It was the day when he truly felt like an abandoned feral, similar to those males left behind by females. Yet, his wife had died, all because of his negligence. Each time he caused pain, manipulating both of them to the edge, eventually creating a rift between them. The more he pushed, the farther he went, and in the end, it led Lucas to fall deep.

In the present, Lucas observed Freya from behind. Her sleeping comfortably in his makeshift bed was a relief for him. If Freya were to be awake in the middle of the night, she would have screamed upon noticing him. Thinking of Lucas as a creep that watches her at night.

Lucas's silver eyes softly gazed at her sleeping figure. From behind, he used his hand to curl a lock of her purple hair. The sweet words "I love you" came out of his mouth before he leaned his face closer, placing a gentle kiss on her hair.

He knew that confining her to stay was a bad idea, and there were plenty of other options from the start. Yet, it was all he could think of.

How can a feral snake like him be able to stay by her side?

With the two spousal marks on her body it would be difficult to get near Freya. Males especially that live in tribes are protective of their females when it comes to ferals.

With relief in his heart, it was enough for him to get some sleep. Before Lucas stood up, he laid a blanket over Freya because of how cold it was at night. He transformed into his snake form, slithering to the side corner and began coiling his body around to sleep.

His long tail extended over to the sleeping Freya, getting a hold of her feet to gently wrap around, like a child wanting a cuddle during sleep. Even if he couldn't provide warmth, placing blankets and pillows helped. But Lucas wanted to hold his wife even if it was as small as wrapping his tail around her leg.

(THE NEXT DAY; MORNING)

The morning sun rises, casting gentle rays across the forest. Soft light blankets the surroundings, painting the sky warmly. Within the forest sounds of faint groans can be heard. Passing through the trees and lush plants growing within the mountains.
