Lucas POV

For a couple of months of searching, no matter how far and wide I looked, there was no clue as to where my beloved had gone. The more time passed, the more I began to feel hopeless. My heart ached with her absence. Every night knowing that she wasn't by my side.

For so long, I yearned to see her again. Every day, I couldn't help but think of Freya—her blue eyes, her long, silky purple hair, and her small yet soft body. Everything about her made me feel at home. Her presence comforted me when we were together.

Searching for her only made me anxious. Whenever encountering any orc in my path, a rising irritation erupted inside me. Whether it was a male or female in my way, nothing could stop my irritation. Besides, the orcs I met on the way were not Freya.

None of them were...

As I slither down the forest near the edge of the shoreline. I heard a small sound coming from the sea. I turned around to see a female with blonde hair coming out of the ocean. I immediately recognized that she was one of those pesky mermaid orcs, who in the past and now keep getting in my way.

"You have to help me, you're a male" the female said in the distance but I ignored her and kept walking.

"Hey! Stop!" She yelled, demanding it.

For a couple of minutes, my irritation heightened as I heard the persistent cries of the troublesome mermaid female who was now following me. The mermaid, who identified herself as "Lilah," continued to demand that I stop, seemingly assuming a commanding role solely because she was a female. In orc tradition, males are expected to take care of females.

However, I don't follow orc traditions. I am feral, and no feral ever heeds the commands of another. Ferals do what they want to do, not solely of other's.

By the time, I was casually jogging quickly somehow the mermaid female had managed to catch up. I stopped, glaring at her once she had come running up blocking my way. Sending serious glares her way there I heard her mouth soon yelling.

" ARE YOU STUPID? I TOLD YOU TO STOP. DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM? I'M APART OF THE MERMAID TRIBE. I-"

For the last ten minutes of my time, I endured the mermaid's incessant shouting, a stream of nonsensical words filling the air. I simply stood there with a blank expression, questioning why I should continue listening. Eventually, I decided to cut short the ordeal and walked past the screaming female.

Despite my calm mood that day, I chose to show mercy and refrained from tearing her apart. It was an unusual display of leniency, considering she belonged to the mermaid tribe—the type of orcs I despised the most. She was indeed fortunate.

However, my deep-seated anger toward the mermaid tribe persisted, and once I locate my Freya, I am certain to return for vengeance against those troublesome mermaids.

Those pesky mermaids, who are arrogant and bold like peacock orcs, believe themselves to be the most attractive and superior beings. Their defining characteristics are their flashy tails and colorful appearance. What they did to me in the past was unforgettable. I wanted to see them fall.

Even if a female is the most treasured in a tribe, nothing could beat my Freya. She is my precious treasure. My sweet little mate. Besides, all the flashy and colorful stuff were the things I avoid.

(TIME PASSED)

For hours, I had finally lost that pesky mermaid female. From the moment she emerged from the sea seeking my help, I had known she might have run away from her tribe. It was pathetic of her to run away alone. Being a carefully raised mermaid female in a population with few females, she wouldn't know a thing about the land and its dangers.

If a normal beastmen stumbled upon her she sure would have gotten help. But it was unfortunate for the mermaid female as she instead stumbled meeting me. I sure wouldn't be the one to guide her. For the most part, why in the hell would I want to? I'm not a nice and sweet male; rather, the opposite.

I slithered through the forest, not bothered by the horrid screams behind me. The only thought on my mind was that the female might have encountered a real wild feral. Most likely abandoned males.

I continued searching, thoughts of all the tribes I had visited flooded my mind. I knew that out of the eight tribes around this large forest, there was just one single tribe left for me to visit.

Despite never finding my Freya in any of the eight tribes I had explored, I remained determined in my search. This last tribe was located near the rocky mountains, nestled between the mountains and the forests. The tribe was well known as the Heihei tribe, with most residents being wolf orcs.

(TIME PASSED)

When I arrived at the tribe in the far distance, I was shocked. For some reason, I saw lots of wolf orcs heavily guarding the tribe walls. In the past, this tribe was easy to invade; even getting hold of the last patriarch was a breeze to kill.

But now, I laughed, thinking that the patriarch might not be the same gray wolf, but rather, might be a different one. A more smart and powerful patriarch ruling this tribe.

Seeing the Heihei tribe being guarded might be a little challenging for me to get inside. This would be intriguing, especially with the different ways to get inside. My curiosity seeing the tribe in the distance only made me more interested.

Excitement surged inside me as I considered that, with the most secured tribe I've seen so far, there might be a possibility that my Freya could be living here!

For hours, I observed how the tribe operated to get a basic idea of where most guards were stationed. From what I could see, guards switched every morning, noon, and night. At night, there was an increase in guards, all spread out in the borders and hidden areas.

(TIME PASSED)

A week passed, and I continued to observe from afar. Unlike my usual plan of directly entering the Heihei tribe, which was different from the other eight tribes, I had to come up with a new strategy. I needed to plan how to enter without alerting any orcs to my presence or smell nearby.

Wolves are keen to smell even if it's miles away they can easily spot a feral within the distance. I had to be cautious. Sure, I could easily barge my way inside through brute force but that was too risky. I have a hint that if I did the tribal leader was alerted he might cause a hinderince in my search for Freya.

I stopped observing the tribe for now and began preparing my plan. I searched around the forest, gathering various herbs to create my specialty: a concealment concoction. Drawing on the knowledge of alchemists from my past life, I remembered every single detail. It might take a couple of weeks to prepare, but everything has to be perfect.

When I finished gathering all the herbs needed for my concoction. I slithered down spotting the nearest cave to temporarily stay in.

Most ferals attack from either lingering around tribes in hopes to get in or by brute force. One took patient while the other was directed by force inside.

For me, I chose none of those. It was too ordinary... With such a big difference between the Heihei tribe I knew that the patriarch might not be dumb. He might not fall for any simple tricks with such a big and secured tribe.

But that didn't mean I would give up! I looked at the very far distance at the top of the hill seeing the many wolf guards positioned in the stone wall. Only a laugh came out from me as I welcomed this exciting challenge with open arms.

How fun!

The thought of what my fate might become is unknown. All I know is that at the end my mate Freya might be living here! Though there was a huge population of orcs living with the tribe. Finding my wife would take seconds to instantly recognize. Her smell, appearance, posture, the way she walks and everything about her was familiar to me.

Though the Heihei tribe had the upper hand with numerous security measures around the borders. Also including most gaurds are wolves that have natural kneen scent of smell, enough to sniff out any creature. None will ever see me coming.

After all, why the hell would I plan my attack on land?  Digging underground would be more efficient.

Slowly and steadily I will see her again.
