Chapter 39: The other side of Lucas

3rd POV

The intense battle between the two males had begun. From a distance, Freya witnessed the brutal fight unfolding before her eyes. Despite her bleeding plan she ignored it. She saw Lucas, transformed into his snake form, engaged in a fierce battle with Shino.

'Feral, let my mate go! How dare you abduct her!' Shino growled. He leaped towards Lucas, his sharp claws scratching the snake's skin.

"Never!"

Lucas yelled, emitting a hiss that revealed his sharp fangs. His long snake body began to coil around Shino, entangling him.

Both the panther and the snake fought each other fiercely. There was bloodshed and destruction around them as they slammed each other into trees, breaking wooden trunks. Being high-mark beastmen, their auras radiated with beastly intensity, each challenging the other for dominance

Whenever Lucas tried to coil his tail to crush Shino, the growling panther would pierce his teeth into Lucas's skin, using a combination of his fangs and claws to escape. Lucas, in response, unleashed multiple attacks, emitting a black aura that hypnotized nearby creatures.

The animals under Lucas's command came running, attacking Shino. They tried to trap him, creating an opportunity for an enraged Lucas to bite him with his poisonous fangs

But Shino kept dodging and biting the incoming animals, he soon became overwhelmed by the numerous creatures attacking him while trying to dodge Lucas's assaults. But in that moment, after he had killed a dozen animals, Shino was suddenly slammed into the air by Lucas's tail. He then crashed into several trees, causing the wooden trunks to break apart.

Shino grunted and transformed back into his beastman form. The injury from being slammed into several trees left him wounded. Shocked, Shino now realized the extent of the fight.

He discovered that Lucas wasn't an ordinary feral. It was clear that he was incredibly strong, stronger than any orc Shino had faced in his entire life. The snake feral in front of him had already surpassed his fifth mark.

At that moment, Shino was left vulnerable, his bleeding wounds dripping while he heavily panted for breath. Not far from him, Lucas came dashing toward the tired and prone Shino. Lucas bared his sharp fangs, aiming them at Shino's neck, his venomous fangs dripping with drops of poison.

"No! Stop!" Freya yelled loudly, finally seizing the chance to intervene as the two males' movements slowed down.

This gave her enough time to prevent them from continuing the fight.

"Lucas! Stop! Don't hurt him!" She begged.

From a distance, Freya came running in. She accumulated mana in her hands, leaving no choice but to strike Lucas down.

Freya could see that Lucas wasn't in his right mind, solely focused on killing Shino. She swiftly aimed her mana just before Lucas came within close proximity of Shino's neck.

A large beam of blue lightning came striking down from the sky. The snake, about to devour Shino whole, hissed loudly. It shrieked, hissing in pain when a large bolt of lightning crashed down onto the side of its neck.

The lightning was so painful that Lucas rose up among the trees. He let out a loud hiss that freed the leftover creatures he had hypnotized. These creatures ran for their lives, away from the large, green beast.

"Shino!" Freya came running towards Shino, hugging him. Her hands trembled, making tears drip seeing the extent of his injury.

"I should have came here sooner. I'm sorry-" Freya said.

"No- It's fine, I'm glad you're safe," Shino said back. He gave a gentle kiss on the side of her cheek, trying to ease her worry.

Freya touched the open wound that now coated her trembling hands with Shino's blood. Feelings of anger and distress flowed through her body. Freya did her best to clean the blood, using strips of cloth she ripped from her long skirt. Yet it proved to be useless.

No matter how much blood she wiped it couldn't stop the bleeding from his chest.

"Ah- I-It's still b-bleeding.." Freya stuttered out. Her blue eyes drowned with wet tears, sobbing off Shino's injury. 

Freya was in total panic as she couldn't help but cry not knowing what to do. Seeing Shino near death as his breathing was weakening. 

"Stop-" Shino said, trying to push Freya's hand back only for her to persist.

Freya blamed herself for not stopping Lucas sooner. She knew how strong he was, yet she hadn't expected him to act like this. Freya had always thought of Lucas as calm and kind, which was how she usually saw him.

However, the gentle smile Lucas had shown before and from the moment Lucas saw Shino. He had drastically changed to a darker expression, as if he had seen something displeasing to his eyes. It was like a third side of Lucas that Freya hadn't ever seen before.

A more twisted and cruel version of himself emerged, one that Freya was unaware of. What she didn't know was that this was Lucas's true personality.

The calm and patient side she saw was exclusively reserved for her. Everything else to him being kind was an act.
