Okay, I have no idea why this chapter just disappeared, so here it is again. So sorry about that! :( Picture of Helen on the side. :)

Chapter 2

Helen's feet slammed into solid ground. Her knees buckled and gave way; she fell down before she could catch herself. Troy lost his grip on her arm. Within a second, her vision returned and she was able to see her surroundings.

She was on the floor in a small kitchen in a house. She recognized it as Coral's house; Helen had seen it through Dahlia's eyes when they had shared minds only a few minutes previously.

There was a wooden kitchen table in the centre of the room. Cabinets lined the wall above the stove and there were flowers at the window. A rug lay on the floor next to the door. It was the kind of house that made a cosy comfy home. The kind of home that she and Troy had never lived in because they'd never once had any other family apart from each other.

There was no light in the circular room apart from the moonlight that came in through the window. Before Helen could get up again, she heard a loud clang as Troy knocked something metal aside with his sword.

Helen gasped in shock as Troy struck again and again at something or someone who refused to yield. The attacker did something that Helen completely missed- and Troy flew over her, crashing into the wooden table which gave way beneath his suddenly-added weight. He groaned and struggled to get to his feet again, dazed from the collision.

Automatically, Helen reached out with her mind and grabbed the assailant mentally, forcing her to freeze. She had only ever tried it as a ghost, with other ghosts, so she had no idea whether it would work now that she was human. The second their minds made contact, she realized who the attacker was.

"Jenna!" she exclaimed, severing her telepathic connection with the girl.

"Hhoisha," Troy muttered, lurching to his feet and lifting his staff. (Fire)

The fire illuminated the darkened kitchen. A broken kitchen knife with a missing blade lay next to the door; Jenna had obviously used that blade to attack Troy. She crouched near the door, trembling with fear. As Troy lifted his staff, Jenna pressed further into the wall, trying to get away from him. Terror radiated off her in waves.

"Who sent you?" she panted. "Varmer's army?"

Helen tentatively entered the child's mind again. She was small, with short dark curls and large honey-coloured eyes. She flinched, trying to block out Helen, but the telepath was too strong.

Jenna could create a physical shield, unlike Ellie who had been able to create magical ones. Even though Helen had just been resurrected, she was still able to penetrate Jenna's mind. To the best of her knowledge, no one would be able to hold her out except for Ellie who was now dead.

"Jenna, we aren't here to hurt you," Helen said gently, trying to reach out to the little girl. "We know about you because-," she cut herself off before she could finish; she wasn't sure whether she could tell Jenna about her birth parents: Kayla and Benjamin. It was highly probable that Jenna didn't know who they were; she definitely didn't know that they were dead and the last thing that Helen wanted to do was to be the person to break that news to her.
