After lunch we prayed Asr and Iqraam led me in prayer
We made our way downstairs afterwards for the ring exchange ceremony
Our parents, Abdullah, Fatima and her parents and other guests sat around the living room
We knelt before our parents and they gave us their blessings and made Duas for us with smiles on their faces
Then it was time to exchange the rings
Iqraam was the one who picked the rings and I trusted his judgement
Abdullah and Fatima walked over to us and Abdullah passed Iqraam my ring
He held his hand out for me and I placed my hand in his
He slid the ring into my ring finger and it fit perfectly
It was a silver and black diamond ring with a simple design, it has little diamonds embedded around it and a bigger one on it, I looked closer and it had MI engraved in it, MI was our initials put together
MI as in Malika and Iqraam
It was very beautiful
A smile made its way to my face
Fatima passed me Iqraam's ring and I took it from her, it was similar to mine the difference being, it was platinum and tiny black diamonds were embedded around it and it didn't have a big diamond in the middle but it had MI engraved in it
I smiled and held out my hand for him to take copying his actions
He placed his hand in mine and I slid the ring into his ring finger
Iqraam pulled me closer and placed a kiss on my forehead
Cheers rang from every corner of the room
We prayed Maghrib and had dinner, soon it was time for me to leave to Iqraam's home
I went to my room and changed into more comfortable clothes, a jalabiya and hijab
The maids moved my boxes downstairs
I looked around my room for the last time, it has always been my comfort zone
"Don't worry, we'll always keep it clean and tidy for you whenever you come to visit"
It was my dad
"Ba" I said acknowledging his presence
" My girl" my dad said
" You're now a fine young lady, who's married" he added
" Yes ba" I replied, it has always been like this with my dad, he trained me and Abdullah to be strong mentally and emotionally, which made us partly who we are today
" Good girl" he said patting my head
Much words were not needed between us
" You should get going, don't keep the young man waiting " my dad said and I nodded
We walked out of my room and I shut the door behind me, I looked at the closed door
I'm gonna miss this placeTears pooled at the corner of my eyes at that thought
" Be strong my girl" My dad said and I wiped away my tears before it could drop
"Let's go" he said and we made our way downstairs
A car was waiting for me alreadyAbdullah, Fatima and my mom stood outside waiting for me
I approached them and hugged them once more
"Be good" Abdullah said patting my head when I hugged him and I nodded
