After a very long shower if Tilly would say so herself, she found that her injuries weren't as bad as she dreaded. Once all the blood had washed down the drain, all that remained were a few long cuts across the crown of her head, moving towards her temple and a darkening by the minute bruise on the same side. Although her head still throbbed with pain, she realized that the injuries from the crash and the battle with the Kryptonian inside of Jordan could've been far more fatal.
They were lucky to come out of this alive at the end of the day. None of them were going to take that for granted. Especially Tilly. Now that her father was out of the picture, she could begin a new life. A life where she was surrounded by people who genuinely gave a crap about her wellbeing and wanted to keep her around. She may not have been totally used to the ways in which she could show her appreciation or love for her newfound family, but she was more than willing to try. Not even for them – for herself.
She deserved this. Right?
Now that she was laid in the guest room of the Kent house, you would think that the exhaustion of the last few days or even weeks would've wiped her out. Yet, there Tilly laid, wide awake atop the soft comforter. The blonde felt a little annoyed at the way she couldn't seem to grow tired enough to fall asleep but decided to just enjoy the silence for a little while.
In the midst of her relaxing in the calmness of the space, Tilly and Sarah had exchanged multiple messages about their experiences. Of course, Tilly had to leave out some major parts but between the crash and the attack in the center of town, it wasn't noticed.
Tilly couldn't help but be proud of not only Sarah and Lana for helping the town when it needed them most rather than running away, but also Kyle Cushing. The man that was previously being shunned for things out of his control, for being treated as one of the villains, now shining in the eyes of the town as the hero he should be. If Tilly didn't know any better, she would think that Kyle was akin to Superman with the way all of the videos portrayed him racing into the burning building without a second's hesitation to save someone. He truly became what made Smallville, Smallville.
Tilly agreed to help Sarah and the rest of the Cushings in cleaning up the town center the next day as it was pretty destroyed after the final showdown with Edge and the Kryptonians. It would make it feel like she was making up for her father's crimes against their town, even if no one verbally blamed her for them.
Deciding that sleep was not arriving any time soon, Tilly made her way into the kitchen, swiftly making herself some hot cocoa before making her way outside to the porch. She settled on simply leaning against the white painted banister as she looked out onto the nearby corn fields. Whilst she had done this multiple times before, the sight never failed to amaze her. The soft glow emitting from the fairy lights that hung around the exterior of the house shone across the crops making her feel weirdly safe.
In reality, anything could be lurking inside the corn rows – each ten-foot-tall stalk was lined up so that nothing could be perceived through the first line. It could've been scary. It could've unnerved her.
But it didn't. In fact, something about it eased her worries. The sight felt just so dark and ominous that she felt the complete opposite of what was expected.
It doesn't make sense, she realized that. But she felt what she felt at the end of the day. Nothing could change that.
Hearing a soft creaking coming from behind her, Tilly tilted her head to the side, only to find Jonathan moving to lean against the railing also. After talking a gulp of her chocolatey drink, she silently offered it for him to try, to which he smiled at, taking it into his grip. Once he passed it back to her, Tilly let out a soft sigh, her eyes finding their way back to the landscape before them.
