"What do you want to do, Arin?" I asked her after I have done looking for her things. Malaki ang penthouse ni Scott at maraming storage areas pero sama-sama naman ang para kay Arin at para sa kaniya.
Arin twitched her lips.
"I don't know po, Tito."
Arin has a sweet voice. She sounded like... she was a disney princess. Mahinhin, really girly and... calm. It's not the usual kid's voice where they always appear to be energetic through their tiny and high tone of speaking.
"Your Daddy kept some toys here. You have..." Sinilip ko ang laman ng unang basket na nakita ko sa cabinet ng kwarto ni Arin. "Barbies... pretend plays... playdough..."
Nanlaki ang mata niya.
"Oh... oh... I want the playdough!"
"Okay..." I gave her different containers of playdough na iba-iba ang kulay. "Do you need help opening these?"
She nodded.
"Alright, Tito's going to open them for you..."
Habang busy ako sa pagtulong kay Arin, ramdam ko ang paglapit ni Maelle sa akin. I told her to text Scott's assistant everything that she will be needing today. I'm afraid we can't go out to fetch her stuff so that's the only solution I can give.
Tumikhim siya. From the side of my eye, I saw her giving my phone to me.
Kinuha ko iyon nang hindi siya tinitignan.
"T-shirt at pants na lang ang pinabili ko and also... some slippers." She said. "Babayaran ko na lang kapag dumating-"
"Wala kang babayaran."
She scoffed.
"Kotang-kota ka na sa akin, Rhys. Ang dami mo nang binibigay!"
Ano naman ngayon?
"Hanggang sa hotel... gas... at mga gamit ko, ikaw ang nag-aasikaso! I should at least give you something!"
Kunot-noo ko siyang hinarap.
She needs to be stopped. Kahit anong gawin niya, I won't let her pay even for a damn single gum!
"Who says I was doing those for free?"
Confusion registered on her face.
"So you're letting me pay you?"
Umiling ako.
"Then, what?"
"You're helping me to babysit."
Sumimangot siya. "Iyon lang?"
"You think babysitting is easy?"
"I'm not saying it is, but... I've been babysitting my whole life! Marami akong kapatid, Rhys. And Arin looks like a good girl."
Well... point taken.
"We don't know that." Wala na akong maisagot pa.
"So you're not letting me pay?"
Lumiit ang mata ko.
"What is your obsession with paying me? Do you dream of me, being your subordinate?"
She looked at me shockingly. "Saan mo naman nakuha iyan?"
"I just thought so."
She did not answer. That behavior... I can foresee that she will sneak some money in my bag or possibly, in Arin's in order to satisfy what she wants.
