After some time of awkward silence, I was the first to break it. I think he's mad about me stereotyping him and his race with my knowledge based on fiction.
"Tristan, I'm sorry if I offended you." I tried my best to reach his shoulder. His back was on me as he's facing the road, probably looking at the heavy rain.
When I was able to reach his shoulder, it was barely a tap, more like a poke. He immediately looked back at me.
"No its fine. I wasn't mad. I was just... thinking."
"Thinking about what?" I said, trying to sit up, even though my head felt so heavy, like it just turned into a ball of cement.
"How you're future's going to change. Now that you're stuck with us." He sighed when he noticed what I was trying to do. He then reached for me at the back seat, trying to pin me back down. "Stay down, will you."
I laughed. "Yeah. That's a good idea. The earth seems to be revolving, or is it my eyes." I paused, trying to be serious. "I think this is how my fate is written. To hang out with vampires."
He laughed. "Well it would've been different, if Will didn't blurt out the truth without thinking." He run a hand through his hair. "He sure is stubborn. Mom and grandfather, agreed with me that we should go back with them to Rome. But Will... well you know what happened."
I laughed. "But he's not the one writing my fate. It's those three goddess with a spinning wheel." He didn't reply but just scorned. "Greek methodology? Not a fan?" He shook his head, and I raised my hands in the air. "Okay fine. It seems that the only common denominator between us is game of thrones."
He laughed. "But you have a lot in common with Will's mother, aside from the name." I bolted up, curiosity suddenly wiped out my headache.
"What, how?" I shrieked.
Okay I overreacted – a bit – but I guess this would answer everything about Will's actions towards me. Like how he unusually got close to me in a fraction of a second. I know his friendly and all, but it's just weird how comfortable he is to me, like he has known me all his life.
He face palmed, I think he was not supposed to say that. "And I just did what I hated Will for doing. Talking without thinking."
"Then just finish what you started. Tell me what is it with his mom and me?"
"You guys look alike." My eyes widened by the shock.
"Holy shit." This is how all my thoughts summed up, into two words.
He laughed. "I know I had the same reaction when I realized. But don't worry you guys aren't that identical. It's just some features, like your smile, facial structure, skin, and hair."
"That's a lot. Or my face is just common in general." He laughed. "Hey it's true. I've read somewhere that probably 3 out of 10, there's a possibility that we have someone that looks like us in the world." I paused. "I'm not entirely sure with the ratio though. But you get the point."
"Well it's not just physically. Your personalities are the same too." He shrugged like it's not a big deal anymore. "Mom loves to talk about her. So I guess we kind of known Victoria through her stories. And meeting you, well, it was like a fairytale turned reality." He paused, contemplating the next words. "That's why Will won't let you go. Even if you want to."
I gulped, probably swallowing my own tongue in the process. "That's kind of a creepy mother-complex thing going on here."
"Yeah." He agreed, and it's surprising how Tristan didn't fight me on this.
A memory suddenly flashed in my head. It was what Marcus said, that time in the mall while I was waiting for Daisy and Jen outside McDonald's. He said that I somewhat has the same logic as Tristan's mom.
What is with these guys, and their mother complex issues?
I brushed the thought aside. This is giving me a headache. I laid back again, desperately trying to empty my thoughts, and sleep.
Then his phone rung, which made both of us startle. Tristan immediately grabbed and answered it.
He asked the person on the other line. "Mom?"
Then he puts the phone on loudspeaker, which I'm grateful of because then I don't have to ask what Divina has got to say.
"Good lord. I just read your message. Why didn't you just called?" She asked and she does have a point. But we can barely hear her voice because of bad connection.
"The signal's bad here. Just come and get us, fast. Victoria's sick."
"Oh dear. Yes, I will immediately send someone to pick you up."
"Where's Will? I didn't see him at school."
"He's with Marcus in the island. I can't contact them. But I know they're fine."
"Okay. Hurry up." Tristan then ended the call.
"She sounded stressed." I commented on how Divina's voice was. Even though the call was choppy, her tone obviously showed hints of anxiousness.
"Yeah we both are." Tristan sighed and again massaged his temples.
"You okay?" I asked him, as I try to get back up again. Wanting to get a closer look.
"I told you to stay down." I froze and my hands automatically shot up, like I just surrendered to a police.
"Okaaaay." And I laid back as ordered. "So. Are you alright?"
"No. I forgot to drink my daily supplement."
"What? Like vitamin c?" I guessed and he chuckled.
"No. Vitamin B. Blood." That left me speechless.
I then remembered that small vile of red liquid, I saw him drinking once in their condo. So that was blood.
After a minute of silence. I attempted a joke. "I have tons of Vitamin B. I can give you some."
