I woke up with a loud banging on the door. At first I thought it was Daisy, but when I opened my eyes, I'm still at the guestroom of the hunters' headquarters.

"Who is it?" I shouted. Though I have no plans on getting up, well yet. I need another five minutes of rolling on the sheets.

"Vicky. Get your lazy ass out of that bed." I heard Kayla's scary voice behind the door. Oh shit. "If I don't see you downstairs in ten minutes, you'll get a black eye from me." I heard her footsteps fading in the distance.

Immediately I bolted out of my bed and took a quick shower while brushing my teeth, yes multitasking to the highest level. There's no way I'm decorating my face again with another black eye.

For the past few days that I've been staying in this place, I've been wearing Kayla's clothes. Well, she might be scary at times but she's super generous. So today I'm using one of her dark denim pants paired with a simple white shirt, and black sneakers that I had a hard time convincing her to give me, I mean borrow.

I came running down the stairs even with my damp hair that I haven't even brushed yet. The four of them were eating breakfast, even Jonas had come out of his cave. Keith turned and had a smirk on his face when he saw me.

"Good morning piglet!" Don shouted behind the counters. He's our cook every morning, because he's the earliest bird to wake up among all of us. "I've got bacons for you. Oh wait, that's ironic, I'm cooking your own kin. No offense." He then chuckled at his own remark.

"None taken. Donkey." I then slouched on a chair beside Kayla. Then I turned to her. "I'm on time commander."

"That threat always work." She smirked and continued drinking her juice.

"Well let's say, I learned it the hard way." I took out a piece of bacon, and on my peripheral view I could see Keith staring at me. "What?" I asked him.

I'm still annoyed by what he did last night. But I think I kind of owe him an apology after I've pushed him. Well, I'll do it later when it's just us. Knowing Don, I think he wouldn't slide that incident without embarrassing me further than I already am.

"Nothing. You just look hot." He said then winked, and simply continued sipping his coffee. They all laughed though, and it made me think that it was a more like a joke than a compliment.

Does he mean the opposite of what he said?

"Please don't give in to his flirting. There's no good that would come out of it." Kayla said and chuckled.

"I know. Well your lucky, you're not he's target." I replied to her, then looked at Keith whose still smirking. "Dude. If you have morning wood deal with it with your own hands." They laughed again.

"It's a good thing I'm his cousin, so I'm exempted." She said and laughed. "And also Jonas would kill him if he tries to pull one on me." Keith shot his hands in front of him, as I sign of white flag.

"Keith also had a reputation in the Academy once..." Don started talking and Keith jumped out of his seat fast enough to cover Don's mouth before he finishes his sentence.

"The womanizer." Jonas filled in the missing words. Then we all laughed, well except Keith.

"Hey! That's the past. No need to bring that up lads." He got back on his stool. "I'm not the same man anymore."

"Really?" I can't help but put him on the spot. What he did last night is opposite to what he claims to be now. Maybe he gained a level from being a ladies man, to a fuckboy.

"Like that could happen." Kayla supported me. "Okay. Change subject. Our flight will be in a few hours. So ready yourselves." She stood up and took her plate to the sink.

"Don't I have a chance to defend myself on this jury?" Keith said and we all laughed. We're kind of teaming up to bully him. Yeah, it's not right to do it to a guest but he's such an easy target to tease.

"I'll wash the dishes. Since I'm the youngest." I said and started cleaning the counter. We all kind of ignored what Keith just said and went on our separate tasks. And when he was about to go near me, Jonas grabbed his arm.

"Help me prepare the gadgets." Jonas said and I flashed him a grateful smile.

Whenever I go somewhere it seems like someone always stands up for the role of being my big brother. In the Carius household it was Jill, this time it's our resident Scientist.

I'm so lucky.

Kayla went up to me after I was done cleaning up. "Well we might need to shop for winter clothes." She said and that made me smile.

"I have my card in my bag. But do we still have time for that?" I asked because she didn't exactly say the time we'll leave for Japan.

"Yeah plenty." She grabbed my hand and for the first time I was able to get out of this cave.

When we exited the elevator, the first thing I saw was clothes. "Are we inside a cabinet?" She nodded. "It feels like Narnia." We both laughed.

We then put the clothes out of our way and Kayla stopped on the side of the cabinet's door and pulled open a small piece of wood. There it showed a fingerprint scanner, she puts her thumb on top of it and the cabinet spoke. "Scan confirmed."

"Open sesame." She said and the door suddenly opened.

When we were already outside the cabinet, the laughter that I was holding back burst out, like I was caging a hyena inside my mouth. "Oh my gawd." I said while wiping the tears in my eyes. Then she smacked my head. I looked up and saw her blushing.

"Don't tell a soul about this fucked up voice activation." She said and started walking up the stairs, out of this basement.

"Let me guess. It was Don who thought of it huh?" She nodded. "Wow. I'm surprised Jonas approved of it."

"They had a bet and obviously the donkey won." She opened the door out the basement and were now standing in front of the house's living room.

I looked around, and the house was actually pretty nice and clean too. Feels weirdly homey even though there's no actual humans really living in here. I then realized that this place is just a one story type of house, a bungalow I guess. It has modern elements that's put up pretty nicely, like they've hired an interior designer to make it look like this.

"Who's taking care of this place?" I asked while running a finger on a cabinet. No dust.

"We hire a housekeeper. She's a bearer that lives nearby." Kayla said and went out the front door. She paused and then turned her heels towards a room. A bedroom. She came out with a cap and dark ray ban sunglasses. "Here someone might notice you. Also tie your hair..." She ran back inside the room. "... and put it underneath this jacket." It was a red checkered plague kinda jacket, definitely my style.

I put on everything she handed me and looked at a mirror. "Well, do I pass as a robber?" She laughed but smacked my arm. Yeah, being with this girl, got me accustomed with all the smacking and punching. I'm a battered friend no doubt.
