Media day, everybody's favourite day. The day that we could all dress and get glammed up, hang out with each other and take cute pictures and videos.
Every moment felt charged with excitement, from the warm sunlight streaming through my window to the buzz of activity around me. It was a day I had envisioned countless times, and now, stepping into it, I felt a rush of joy and exhilaration, I had been dreaming of wearing a UConn jersey for countless years, and today was the day I could finally put on my official number 18. Our first game against Florida was next week so the pictures would be coming out in a couple of days, we were doing media a bit late because of scheduling issues but I didn't care, all that I cared about was that we were here and doing it.
"anddd done!" I said as I finished doing Aaliyah's eye makeup, it was subtle and natural but still a little something extra. Aaliyah, Nika, Azzi, Aubrey, Paige and I were all gathered in our dorm as we got ready together. Nika, Aaliyah and I were all in the bathroom doing our hair and makeup, the others were in the other bathroom since they were quite small and not all of us could fit into one.
"you excited Mils??" Nika asked me as she shook my shoulders causing us all to laugh.
"first media day with the huskies!" Aaliyah added.
"So hyped, gotta rep number 18 well" I replied, Nika had her hair curled with light natural makeup, and I had done my hair in a blowout, I was trying to replicate Sabrina carpenters perfect hair but it didn't turn out quite the same, my makeup was light and natural but heavy enough to show up on camera. Lili had her signature yellow braids that were tied up in a half-up half-down hairdo.
"C'mon girls we gotta go!" a voice said as they busted into our bathroom. I turned my head to see Aubrey standing in front of us, she had her hair done in a silk press, and she looked amazing.
"get it Aurbs" Lili cheered.
"I see you!" I added as we all hyped her up, she got a bit shy as she smiled and beckoned us to come out.
We had to take two different cars because we wouldn't all fit and seeing that we were late in getting ready, Lili, Aubrey, Nika and I all went in one car to meet the others at the stadium.

As we entered the stadium we heard loud cheers from the rest of the girls and the staff, everybody looked amazing. We were all wearing the new UConn 2022 kit, it was so nice personally I liked the navy blue more than the white. But it was still all so good. This had been my dream forever, and I was finally living it.
Large lights, equipment and cameras were set up in three different areas, all with different backdrops. This was so cool.
They also had large lights and smoke machines near the baskets on each end of the court, ready for someone to use. Villanova's media day was big, but not nearly as big as this. This was a whole ass event.
