Narrative
For as long as they could remember, Camille and Paige always shared a mind. It was like their thoughts were always intertwined, their brain shared the same path of neurone. Whatever Paige wanted, Camille wanted and whatever Camille wanted Paige did too. Even when the two girls hated each other's guts in high school, they still shared the same goal. To be number one, to get that number one high school draft spot. They both wanted to go to UConn and they both dreamed of getting a championship one day.
Although their goals weren't the only thing that made them similar. They both felt the pressure and they both felt the need to be the best. Their shared ambition and drive. It wasn't just a matter of competitive spirit; it was as though their very essence was woven together by a shared tapestry of dreams and determination. They felt each other's doubts and fears as if they were their own, and every victory and setback was felt with a resonance that was uniquely theirs. Their relentless pursuit of excellence was driven by a deep-seated understanding of each other's strengths and weaknesses, an unspoken communication that made them formidable both as allies and adversaries.
Their bond, forged through countless hours of practice and shared struggles, was a paradox of unity and rivalry. Despite their disagreements and conflicts, they were each other's greatest supporters and harshest critics. They knew that their bond, however complex, was integral to their shared success
However, for the first time. They didn't share the same goals or views. Instead, they thought separately on a decision that could and would change their future together.
Paige wanted to stay.
Camille wanted to go.
Even though Camille promised she would stay with Paige for another year.
Something Camille did was never break a promise, a heavy guilt lingered over the girl as she tried to plan a way to tell Paige in her head, she paced back and forth around the room. Trying to figure out why she left it so late to tell her, she knew that in her heart this is what she wanted. So why did she let Paige believe they were staying together at UConn for another year for almost 4 months, but with the Big East tournament around the corner, she knew what she had to do.
As the girl planned everything she was going to say in her head she also thought of every different outcome that was going to happen, and even though she messed up she knew Paige would understand and they would get through this and work something out. The minutes on the clock ticked down, and the hour of 10 pm neared closer, Camille invited Paige over to talk and hangout but since they both had practice and classes and then had to take showers, she couldn't come over un till 10.
Camille paced around her room, her footsteps echoing off the walls, and her thoughts were a tangled mess of dread and resolve. She glanced at her reflection in the mirror, trying to find the courage she'd felt so sure of before. What if Paige didn't understand? What if their friendship was irreparably damaged? Camille knew that her decision was driven by a desire to chase her dreams, but she also understood that it came at the cost of their shared future.
