"So she met with her ex? The one I put in the hospital?" Tommy clarified as I downed my drink in one go and put the glass back on the bar counter before turning to my desk.

"Yes." I confirmed and Ramiro whistled slowly as I sat on my chair and glanced at my phone on which I was on a call with the two.

"She's got guts." He commented.

"Guts Arlo will be more than happy to rearrange." Tommy snorted and I grunted, rubbing my temples.

"Is she with you right now?" Ramiro asked when I sighed.

"No, she went back to her place with her friends." I told him and heard his hum.

"And what did you both tell them? They're quite protective of her, as far as I remember." Miro added and I hummed thoughtfully, "And smart."

"We didn't fool them, they know something is up and if I am correct, they know by now the nature of our relationship." I informed.

"Which is?" Tommy asked and I swirled the drink in my glass, mesmerised by the golden-brown shades swirling in front of my eyes as I leaned back in my seat.

"A contract marriage that benefits both parties." I told them.

"What about the part where you kidnapped her and forced her, in a way?" Tommy inquired when a subtle smirk pulled at my lips.

"She won't tell them that, knowing that's in her and their best interest." I told them both, "She knows the consequences if the truth ever comes out."

"Oh. Did she try going to the police?"

"I made her aware of my hold on the city— or rather, the world." I sipped on the scotch and licked my lips, closing my eyes as her taste filled my mouth instead.

"—no, I don't think that's right, what do you think, Arlo?" My eyes snapped open as I looked around and frowned.

"About?"

"The hacker who entered our system?" Tommy reminded me and I nodded once.

"He didn't take anything from us, did he?" Miro asked when I heard Tommy click his tongue.

"No, everything was left untouched, according to Dante." Tommy referred to our technical in charge.

"Dante is damn good at what he does. He's one of the best, and yet, he couldn't figure out what this hacker wanted." Tommy explained as my mind reeled.

"Maybe he entered our database by accident?" Miro suggested.

"We have the best security systems, nobody can accidentally stumble in on our files. Whoever this was, knows their way around." I concluded.
