"Pain, but I won't let it turn into hate, no, I won't let it change me, never losing sight of the one I keep inside."

"Here, drink this." I took the steaming mug of tea from Jamie with a grateful look as he draped a fluffy blanket over my shoulders.

Even though it was still warm, the storm managed to make it at least ten degrees cooler, thus resulting in my shivering and cold form.

After Jamie had picked me up, he had brought me to his home with him and gave me a fresh and dry pair of clothes to which I was more than grateful for.

"Please tell me your fiancé didn't do this to you." I watched as he sat in front of me when I swallowed ad shook my head.

"It was my own fault, I—" I hesitated before speaking, "I provoked him, said things I shouldn't have and then ran away from him."

"He didn't kick you out, did he?" He asked again.

"No, he just left me alone in his room. I was the one who made the stupid decision to get out." He groaned in annoyance at that and flicked my nose.

"You're such an idiot. Does he know you're here?" My silence was the only answer he needed as I pursed my lips and he sighed heavily, taking out his phone.

"W-What are you doing?" I watched with wide eyes as he looked for something on his phone.

"Calling Isaac so he can inform your man that you're well and alive, and with me." He told me when I jumped towards him and tried to snatch his phone from his hand, but he was quick to pull away with a frown.

"No! Please don't call him!" I yelled, surprising both of us at my outburst before I cleared my throat and sat properly, clasping my hands on my lap as I avoided his gaze.

"I-I don't want him to know I'm here," I looked back up pleadingly into Jamie's eyes, "Please, Jamie."

The crack in my voice was enough to make him sit back down and put his phone aside, making me relieved as he took my hand.

"Flower, you know you can tell me anything, right?" He spoke in a gentle and soothing tone when I nodded.

"I'm alright, Jamie, really. Harlan didn't hurt me, don't worry." I reassured him and saw his hesitant gaze on me before he nodded once and pulled away.

"I ordered pizza. How does a movie sound with that?" He asked after a few quiet moments when I smiled a little, my tense shoulders relaxing.

"I'd like that," I said before chewing on my lip, "Is it okay if I stay here for a day or two?"

My heart pounded in my chest as I awaited his answer when he looked suspiciously at me but nodded nonetheless.

"Of course, this is your home too, remember?" He reminded when I smiled and wrapped my arms around him, making him chuckle as he hugged me back.
