"I know that I shouldn't touch but you twist my heart, because I can never get enough once the feeling starts."

Jamie and I stepped out of the small house, the creak of the door fading as it shut behind us

Jamie and I stepped out of the small house, the creak of the door fading as it shut behind us. The air outside felt warmer than before, the sun high in the sky now.

The silence between us was thick, broken only by the distant rustling of trees and the faint chirp of birds. My heart was still racing from Alain's words, each syllable echoing ominously in my head.

Jamie turned to me, his brows knitted tightly together and eyes dark with thought.

"We can't stop now," He said, his voice low but resolute, "You heard what he said—there's more to this, more than we were ever told."

"I know, but... he warned us for a reason. If what he said is true, we're digging into something far more dangerous than we realized." I said as a shiver ran down my spine.

His jaw clenched and he looked past me at the house, as if rethinking everything we had found. A few quiet moments later, he shifted his gaze back to me, determination flaring up once more in his eyes.

"We've come this far. We can't walk away now." He whispered.

A silence settled between us again, this time more uneasy and I wrapped my arms around myself as the wind picked up a little, rustling the dry leaves at our feet as we started to walk towards the car.

"Are you sure you're okay with this? You don't have to keep going if you don't want to. I'll understand, Azalea." Jamie looked at me, softer now, a hint of concern showing through the cracks of his resolve.

"I don't know if I'm okay, Jamie. But I also don't think I can stop now." I swallowed thickly, the image of Alain's warning gaze flickering through my mind.

"Then we'll keep going, but we need to be smart about this." He said, the line of his mouth tightening into a thin, resolute smile.

The weight of his words hung between us as we walked back, our footsteps crunching over the dry grass.

The path back to the car felt longer than usual, each step pressing the reality of what we'd just learned deeper into my mind.

"We'll figure out our next move tomorrow. For now, we need to get back before anyone realizes we're gone." He paused, leaning against the car door with a sigh when I nodded, sliding into the passenger seat wordlessly.

The drive back was quiet, both of us lost in our thoughts and every so often Jamie would cast me a sidelong glance, as if gauging whether I was holding up alright.

I met his eyes once or twice, offering a small, reassuring smile that felt more like a reflex than a genuine expression of calm.

When we pulled up to the house, the sky was clear and the sun shone brightly down at the house.
