I miss you, I'm sorry

Part 14

Aj woke up to a strange comfort underneath him, and an unfamiliar warmth against his back. Aj rubs his eyes, and opens them to realise he's asleep on the bed. He swears he fell asleep in the bathtub last night. Maybe he had slept walked back to the bed? Or had Niko brought him here. He doesn't know. Part of him prays its the latter, a very small part. But why would he? Niko would rather have him dead than sleep beside him. Aj feels a weight around his waist, and looks down to  see Nikos arm wrapped around his hips, holding him tight against his front. 

Aj wanted to pull away, he really did, not wanting to be in the arms of the man he hated, but he didn't want to wake him up. Not because he cared, but because he wasn't in the mood to argue. Yeah, that's definitely it.

Aj lays against Nikos chest, basking in the warmth. He had missed waking up beside someone in the mornings. The warmth coursing through him, keeping him content. He didn't want Niko to wake up, that would mean him having to leave the comfort  of - of the bed. 

Aj thinks about Nikos behaviour the night before, how strange he was acting. It was like a little kid on steroids. Out of everything that was said only one thing stuck in his mind. Had he actually thought he was pregnant, did he look pregnant? Niko had never made a mean comment about his body, other than his height of course, but in all their years of hatred never once had either of them commented on the others weight. Maybe Niko had told him he was very small, yes. But never once had he said big, not once. As much as they hated each other, they knew the limits. They just wanted the other to feel the same pain they felt, not end their life. 

Niko slowly stirs awake, shooting open his eyes in shock. Fuck. He had woken up around 2 hours into his sleep, and couldn't find Aj anywhere. He walked into the bathroom, and had almost missed the small boy curled in the bathtub. Niko had picked him up and placed him on the bed, turning his back to Aj. He only did it because he didn't want to hear Aj complain about his back, not because he cared. Niko was shocked to find himself wrapped around Aj, but hadn't made any moves to remove his arm. It was nice waking up beside someone, and he kinda missed waking up beside the boy, missed his endless rants before they fell asleep, and the warm feeling of holding someone. He missed it. But he couldn't have that. Couldn't be with some one like Aj, not after what he did. 

There was always a re-occurring thought on Nikos mind, when would Aj betray the others like he did him? Was he waiting for them to do something first before he turned on them, or was it just Niko.

Both boys were lay awake, trying to hold onto this moment for as long as possible. Neither one knew that the other was awake, their thoughts about the other racing through their minds. If only they knew. 

Niko silently curses at the fact he needs to pee, and reluctantly slides out from behind Aj walking to the bathroom. Niko could've sworn he heard a light whine when his arm was removed off of Aj. 

He pees, and washes his hands and face, brushing his teeth in the process. Niko stares at himself in the mirror, thinking about how he is going to have to stay locked in here with Aj for another 9 days. With no fix, he may actually have to face his emotions, face living with Aj again. He debates on asking Filly for gummies or something, get them sent through Kenny or Sharky. He'll see how today goes. 

He walks back into the bedroom to see Aj sat against the headboard scrolling away through his phone. 

"Took your time," Aj mutters, running into the bathroom. 

"Don't complain or I'll take longer next time," Niko rolls his eyes, siting at the desk. He starts some work at the computer, not taking any notice to Aj who walks out the bathroom and makes the bed quickly. Aj, although being very messy, always had his bed made. He couldn't leave the house without making his bed. Even if the rest of hi room was a dump, the only tidy thing was his bed.
