The morning sun cast a warm glow over the bustling streets, illuminating Hobi’s father’s Korean buffet, a beloved local spot known for its vibrant atmosphere and delicious food. The sign outside, adorned with intricate calligraphy, welcomed patrons with the promise of hearty, authentic meals. Inside, the air was filled with the savory scents of simmering broths, sizzling meats, and freshly cooked rice.
Taehyung stood behind the counter, expertly preparing dishes with practiced ease. His hands moved deftly, assembling bibimbap bowls and arranging side dishes with an artist’s precision. Despite the busy morning rush, he exuded a calm confidence, his demeanor both welcoming and efficient.
The bell above the door chimed softly as a group of customers entered, the morning’s first wave of diners. Taehyung greeted them with a warm smile.
The patrons, a mix of regulars and newcomers, settled into their seats, the lively hum of conversation filling the room. Taehyung approached their table, a notepad in hand. “What can I get for you today?” he asked, his tone friendly and attentive.
A young woman glanced at the menu, her eyes lighting up as she decided. “I’ll have the kimchi jjigae, please.”
Taehyung nodded, jotting down the order. “Excellent choice. And for you?” he asked, turning to the man beside her.
“I’ll take the bulgogi, with an extra side of japchae,” the man replied, handing the menu back to Taehyung.
“Of course. And to drink?” Taehyung continued, his pen poised.
“Just some green tea for me,” the woman said.
“I’ll have the same,” the man added.
Taehyung smiled. “Coming right up.” He returned to the counter, relaying the orders to the kitchen staff with a practiced efficiency. As he prepared the drinks, he glanced around the restaurant, ensuring everything was running smoothly. The kitchen buzzed with activity, the chefs working in harmony to create each dish to perfection.
Minutes later, Taehyung returned to the table with the steaming bowls of food, the aroma wafting through the air, eliciting appreciative murmurs from the diners. “Here you go, kimchi jjigae and bulgogi with an extra side of japchae. Enjoy your meal,” he said, placing the dishes before them.
The customers thanked him, their faces lighting up as they dug into their meals. Taehyung watched for a moment, satisfied to see their enjoyment, before moving on to attend to other tables. The morning passed in a flurry of activity, with Taehyung seamlessly balancing multiple tasks, his charm and efficiency ensuring every customer felt valued and attended to.
As the breakfast rush began to wind down, Taehyung took a brief moment to catch his breath. He glanced at the clock, noting that the lunch crowd would soon follow. Just then, Hobi’s father, Mr. Jung, emerged from the kitchen, his face beaming with pride.
“You’re doing a great job, Taehyung,” Mr. Jung said, clapping him on the shoulder. “The customers love you.”
Taehyung smiled, a hint of bashfulness in his expression. “Thank you, Mr. Jung. I’m just happy to help.”
Mr. Jung nodded, his eyes twinkling with appreciation. “It’s employees like you that make this place special.”
“Hey, everyone!” Hoseok greeted cheerfully, making his way behind the counter. “Sorry I’m late. Traffic was insane.”
Mr. Jung, his father, frowned. “Late again, Hoseok?” he scolded, his tone stern. “You need to be more responsible. Customers are waiting!”
Hoseok’s grin faltered slightly, but he quickly recovered, flashing his father an apologetic smile. “I know, Dad. I’ll make it up to you, I promise.”
